Mount Saint Mary continued their solid play into the second set, as their serve and receive game was looking top-notch. They were able to get to their spots and allow Aubriana Boyce and Sofia Fredericks to set everyone up. After being down 7-5, the Knights scored 14 of the next 17 points, as Allie Kenney was one of the key names that uplifted the team as a sub. The Dolphins tried to will their way back into the set, but MSMC would have none of it as they won the second set 25-17 to go up 2-0.
Looking to pull out the brooms, Mount Saint Mary stalled in the third set, allowing a 9-0 run to dig themselves into a 20-9 deficit. The Knights responded with seven unanswered points of their own, which included three aces from Jonaiya Williams and a kill from spark plug Mackenzie Warmoth to make the score 20-16 Mount Saint Vincent. MSMC showed heart, but ultimately fell 25-22 in the third set.
The Knights continued to play well early on in the fourth set, going up 10-5. Fighting their way back in, UMSV tied the nail-biter of a set at 14 all. The Knights didn't let the pressure get to them as Jonaiya Williams tied it back up with a kill 23-23. We entered the win-by-two scenario, with Mount Saint Mary looking to clinch the match up 26-25 and only needing one point. UMSV answered the call and forced a fifth set after winning the fourth 28-26.
Mount Saint Mary seemed unfazed in the final set, as coach Skylar Kellam kept her squad composed after giving up a two-set lead. Going up 9-2 after Erin Lema and Mackenzie Warmoth combined for three straight kills, the Knights were on the Dolphin's doorstep.
