RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team suffered their first conference loss of the season against the University of Mount Saint Vincent by a score of 1-0.

The Knights got caught off guard at the beginning of the match by the Dolphins who came out hot from the opening whistle. Mount Saint Vincent put a goal into the back of the net during the 11th minute of the match. Both teams struggled to connect passes in the midfield and had limited offensive chances. Mount Saint Mary was able to get some shots off but only three of them were on goal throughout the first half. After allowing the first goal, the Knights played solid defensively, preventing the Dolphins from having any more real scoring chances in the first half.
The Knights came out strong in the second half but still struggled to get much past the Dolphin defense. Graduate goalkeeper
Christina Kakavas shined in goal once again this season making some big saves for the Mount, and holding Mount Saint Vincent to a second-half shutout. The rotation of Knights defenders would keep the Dolphins' offense to a minimum and keep Mount Saint Mary in the game. The Knights saw more successful shots in the second half but were unable to capitalize. A few last-second chances for the Mount gave them some hope, yet unfortunately, they were not able to get the equalizer they were looking for. The Knights focus on what's next as they prepare to take on SUNY Purchase at 7 PM on Wednesday at home.
