Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary has played strong thus far to start conference play, looking to continue that at home against Purchase College. From the opening whistle, the Knights controlled the game, securing three corner kicks in the first four minutes. Lily Tanko notched the first goal of the match, putting the moves on multiple defenders and faking out the goalie for the tap-in. It was an easy day at the office for goalkeeper Christina Kakavas who made a save on the only shot she saw all night. The Knights kept peppering the back line of the Panthers, totaling 35 shots, 10 of which were on goal. The second goal of the match came in the 27th minute as Kaelyn Greene set up Grace Morra off a set piece for her first goal of the season to give the Mount a 2-0 lead. It was almost inevitable that Morra scored, as her eight shots on goal are second on the team. 19 Knights saw action today throughout both halves, providing great play across the board.

The first-half domination for Mount Saint Mary carried over to the second half, as they possessed the ball for a majority of the match. The Knights created plenty of stellar chances throughout the game, including a cross from Lily Tanko to Victoria Maffettone who dropped the ball off to Grace Morra for the goal. It seemed like everyone was on the same page tonight, stringing together passes and setting each other up for good looks. Darla Petricca had a couple of scoring chances less than a minute apart, including one that hit the top of the woodwork, and another that was just inches from the crossbar. The Panthers offense was no match for center-back Maria Baldwin who kept the Purchase forwards in check all night. Kaelyn Greene put the exclamation point on the game for the Knights placing a gorgeous strike into the top left of the net in the 86th minute to make the final score 4-0.
