Rapid Recap
The beginning of this evening's Skyline Conference match was back and forth from the opening kickoff. Both teams struggled to connect passes in the midfield and had limited offensive chances. The Knights and Gryphons would trade shots on goal with both goalkeepers making saves early in the game. The ball would continue to go back and forth as
Alexa Centrone,
Kaitlin Hansen,
Kaelyn Greene, and
Maria Baldwin anchored the Knight's back line and prevented Sarah Lawrence from having any real scoring chances. In the 37th minute of the match, Sarah Lawrence would find the back of the net from outside the box and go into halftime up 1-0.
The Knights came out a different team to start the second half. They put tons of pressure on the Gryphons defense right out of the gate. Graduate goalkeeper
Christina Kakavas shined in goal making some big saves for the Mount, and holding Sarah Lawrence to a second-half shutout. The rotation of Knights defenders would keep the Gryphons offense to a minimum and keep Mount Saint Mary in the game. During the 70th minute of the match, senior
Victoria Maffettone would line up to take a corner kick for the Knights. Maffettone delivered a beautiful corner across the box and
Genesis De Leon Portillo redirected the ball off a header into the back of the net to tie up the match. Both teams had a few more chances toward the end of the second half but neither team could score. The Knights look to continue this momentum as they travel to the University of Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon to take on the reigning Skyline Conference Champs.
