Kings Point, NY- In a hard-fought battle, the Mount Saint Mary College Knights faced off against the United States Merchant Marine Academy, but despite their efforts, they came up short with a final score of 48-59. The game saw the Knights put up a strong fight but ultimately couldn't maintain their momentum throughout the entire match.
The first quarter set the tone for a closely contested game, with both teams scoring 14 points each. The Knights outscored their opponents in the second quarter, gaining a slight edge with a score of 27-22 at halftime. However, the Merchant Marine Academy responded strongly in the third quarter, outscoring the Knights 12-6 to take the lead.
Throughout the game, Head Coach
Marion Dietz emphasized the importance of maintaining a February mindset for the entire 40 minutes. Despite their efforts, the Knights struggled to maintain consistency, particularly in the latter half of the game.
Individually, several Knights players showcased their skills on the court.
Sara Cashin led the team with 11 points.
Casey Love contributed 8 points and led the team in rebounding, securing 9 throughout the game.
Lauren Petrie and
Brianna Guglielmo added to the team's offense scoring 12 points combined.
