Rapid Recap
Mount Saint Mary was looking to build some momentum after coming off their first win of the season against SUNY Cobleskill. The Knights have a slate of two games as part of the Hudson Valley Classic against Bard College, followed by Vassar College on Saturday. The Mount started off well, with Matthew Walsh scoring on the first shot of the game, then Josiah Jones scored to make the score 5-0. The Knights' leading scorer on the season, Connor Cyran, knocked down a three to add to their lead. From here, they began to stall offensively as Mount Saint Mary only scored two points in the next eight minutes. Bard held the lead for the remainder of the half and the remainder of the game. The Mount shot 30% from the field in the first half, only putting up 22 points.

Things wouldn't get much better shooting-wise for the Knights in the second half. They shot only 29.41% from the field in the last 10 minutes of play but did a much better job attacking Bard down low. Compared to their two free throws in the first half, the Knights had 15 free throw attempts in the second and converted them at 80%, well above their 67.9% season average. Mount Saint Mary relied on a heavy dose of Ryan Graham and Connor Cyran to get them back into the game as they accounted for more than half of their points (18) in the second half. Splash plays by Justin Rivera and Matthew Walsh provided some offense for the Knights, but they weren't consistent enough to make a run at Bard's double-digit lead. With 1:28 remaining in the game, Connor Cyran knocked down a three-pointer to score his 17th point of the night to become the 17th player in MSMC history to score 1,000 points. Ultimately, the Knights fell to the Raptors 72-56 in their opening match of the Hudson Valley Classic.
