Mount Saint Mary came out strong against a tough NYU team. The Violets emphasized putting pressure on the Knights from the opening whistle. NYU put three shots on goal at the beginning of the match but graduate goalkeeper Christina Kakavas made some key saves early on in the night. Kakavas won Knight of the Week this past week for her valiant efforts against Farmingdale and Manhattanville, and she continued to be a force between the pipes tonight. During the 33rd minute of the match, NYU struck first and got the first goal on the board. The match continued to go back and forth with the Violets continuing to put shots on target. The Violets were able to sneak another two goals by the Knights in the first half and lead the match 3-0 after 45 minutes of play.

The Knights came out for the second half and continued to fight. They attempted to form a counter on the Violets to get some offense going but were unsuccessful. NYU would score the fourth and final goal of the match in the 54th minute. Kakavas made a career and season-high 16 saves in net for the Knights. Mount Saint Mary will be celebrating their seniors before their next match on Saturday afternoon against St. Joseph's Brooklyn.
