Knights Celebrate Seniors with Come-From-Behind Victory

Newburgh, NY- The Mount Saint Mary College Knights (13-5, 12-1 Skyline) celebrated their seniors in style by rallying past the St. Joseph's University (L.I.) Golden Eagles (12-7, 9-5 Skyline) for a 67-57 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Elaine & William Kaplan Recreation Center.

Despite trailing for most of the game, the Knights never gave up, showcasing their resilience and determination down the stretch. Coach Marion Dietz praised the team's effort, saying, "It was great to celebrate our seniors and we are very proud of our underclassmen for stepping up in the come-from-behind win. We had a rough beginning but our leaders stepped up and brought the team together to organize our comeback."

Senior Stars Light the Way:

Charlotte Twohig, the lone playing senior, contributed a solid 16 points, knocking down two key three-pointers of her own in the fourth quarter.

Underclassmen Step Up:

The underclassmen stepped up big in support of the seniors. Brianna Guglielmo, one of the team's sophomores, led the charge with a game-high 21 points, including 3 clutch three-pointers. Lauren Petrie chipped in 3 points and made her presence felt defensively, while Ciarra Quinn added 2 points and provided energy off the bench. Casey Love's relentless hustle throughout the game contributed immensely and kept the Knights within striking distance.

Game Summary:

The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early lead and held it for most of the first half. However, the Knights refused to go down without a fight, chipping away at the deficit throughout the second and third quarters. With the score tied at 50 heading into the final frame, the Knights erupted on a 19-13 run to secure the victory.
