Purchase, NY- The Mount Saint Mary College Knights (13-6, 12-2 SKY) fell 57-48 to the Manhattanville College Dolphins (16-3, 13-1 SKY) in a hard-fought contest tonight.
Brianna Guglielmo led the Knights with 12 points, shooting 3-for-12 from the field and 2-for-3 from three-point range. Lauren Petrie chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds, while Charlotte Twohig added 7 points and 9 rebounds.
The Knights started slow, trailing by 10 points after the first quarter. They battled back in the second and third quarters, but couldn't quite overcome the early deficit. The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair, but Manhattanville pulled away in the final minutes to secure the victory.
"It was a tough loss tonight," Head Coach Marion Dietz said. "We didn't get off to the start we wanted, and Manhattanville did a good job of making us work for everything. We had some bright spots, but ultimately we just couldn't get over the hump. Brianna Guglielmo and Lauren Petrie had good games for us, and we need to build on those positives as we move forward."
