Bronx, NY-
The Mount Saint Mary College Knights (11-5, 10-1 Skyline) held off the University of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins (12-4, 8-3 Skyline) in a gritty 64-50 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Peter Jay Sharp Center in The Bronx.
Defense Leads the Way:
The Knights' defense proved to be the difference in the game, holding the Dolphins to just 32.8% shooting from the field. MSMC also forced 19 turnovers and had 34 rebounds.
"Our defense was really strong in the second half," said Head Coach Marion Dietz. "We made some adjustments at halftime and I thought we did a much better job of containing their shooters. We also rebounded the ball well, which gave us some extra opportunities offensively."
Balanced Scoring:
The Knights had a balanced scoring attack with two players in double figures. Ciarra Quinn led the way with 18 points, while Charlotte Twohig added 15 points. Brianna Guglielmo chipped in with 9 points, Lauren Petrie had 7 points, and Casey Love finished with 5 points.
"It was a great team effort today," said Dietz. "We had a lot of players step up and make big plays. Ciarra was great offensively, and Charlotte really helped us out on the boards. I'm just proud of the way our team fought hard and stuck together for the win."

The Knights will return to action on Tuesday night when they host Saint Joseph's University-Brooklyn at 6:00 PM.
