Danbury, Conn. — In their first competition back from winter break, Knights Swimming headed to Danbury, Conn. this afternoon to face the Wolves. The Knights women took home a win with a score of 100-57, while the men fell to the Wolves (102-57).
Women's Recap
The Knights women had strong races across the pool this afternoon. Meghan Wurster (Newburgh, NY), Stefanie Sommer (Warwick, NY),Grace MacHugh (Newburgh, N.Y.) and Kitty Masayda (Watertown, Conn.) each had individual wins against the Wolves.
Wurster dominated in the 200-yard freestyle coming in at 2:14.96, before winning the 100-yard freestyle at a 1:03.48.
MacHugh took first in the 100-yard backstroke at a 1:15.48, and the 500-yard freestyle with a 6:08.87.
Sommer won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 30.36. Masayda also won the 100-yard breastroke, coming in at 1:15.35.
Men's Recap
The Knights men faced an uphill battle this afternoon, outnumbered by the Wolves. Still, they were able to put up second-place finishes throughout the meet.
Michael D'Ambrosio (Staten Island, NY) swam to two second place finishes, in the 200-yard freestyle (2:16.11) and the 100-yard breastroke with a time of 1:06.30.
Jackson Lerner (Bayside, N.Y.) also had a runner-up swim in the 500-yard freestyle, coming in at 6:12.63.
The Knights will be back in the Kaplan Center Pool on Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m., where they will face William Paterson University and celebrate their senior swimmers.
