NEWBURGH, N.Y. — The Mount Saint Mary College women's swim team was bested by William Paterson at home 130.5-42.5.
Sophomore Kate Cerven impressed with a trio of top finishes, taking 3rd in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:41.23), 2nd in the 50 Yard Freestyle (29.19), and 2nd in the 100 Yard Freestyle (1:07.96). Senior Cayla Nicholas also turned in a strong day for the Mount, finishing 2nd in the 200 Yard Individual Medley (2:43.63), 2nd in the 100 Yard Butterfly (1:10.49), and 3rd in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:16.03).
"Even though the score didn't go our way, I'm proud of how our team competed from start to finish," said Head Coach
Chris Mance. "We're continuing to build depth, and the individual improvements we're seeing each week are exactly what we want at this point in the season."
Senior captain
Stefanie Sommer finished with three top-three finishes, placing 3rd in the 1000 Yard Freestyle (13:45.21), 2nd in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:12.20), and 3rd in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:30.94).
Angelina Mainiero continued her consistent performances for the Knights, earning 2nd place in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:23.06) and another 2nd place in the 500 Yard Freestyle (6:37.59).
