Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | D.J. Bevivino

Mazzarelli's Second Half Goal Not Enough to Beat the Rams

Farmingdale, NY- MSMC Men's Soccer traveled down to Long Island to take on the Farmingdale State Rams in a Skyline Conference match.  This match was the fourth conference game of the season for the Knights, where they find themselves sitting in 8th place in the Skyline.  Their opponents for the evening came into the match ranked 3rd.

The first half of the match was a very much a battle in the middle third of the field.  Unfortunately, of the few shots conceded by the Mount defense, three were able to find the back of the net.  Regrouping at half time the Knights came out looking to press the attack higher in the midfield and start their transitions quicker.  Sophomore Quinn Tynan was a workhorse in the center for the team.  Making plays on both sides of the field and leading the offensive distributions.  In the 62nd minute the Knights had a breakthrough and J.C Guitierrez was able to get a ball to Marco Mazzarelli.  Mazzarelli's cool calm demeanor on the ball lead to MSMC's first goal of the game.  Even with the adrenaline from the goal fueling the team to rally back, the final whistle eventually blew, and the final score finished 1-4.

The team will regroup and prepare for their next match which will take them back to Long Island to take on St. Joseph's University-Long Island.  The game will be played next week on Tuesday at 4pm.
