East Patchogue, NY- The Mount head down to Long Island for the second time in a week, this time to take on the Golden Eagle of St. Joseph's University- Long Island. The Knights entered the game ranked 10th in the conference, looking to unseat the 7th place St. Joes.
Today's game was an end to end battle. There is just no other way to describe the constant 120-yard movement of the play. Possession was not often lost in the midfield, each team using differing attacking methods. The Knights opting for possession in the middle of the field and looking for their wide attack, where as the Golden Eagles kept the ball wide in the middle third, and playing the ball into their strikers setting up in the middle of the defense.
Caesar Martinez saw 19 shots from the SJU-LI team, and saved all but one of the 11 on net. On the other end the Knights were able to get 9 shots on the opponent goal.
J.C. Gutierrez and
Marco Mazzarelli lead in the team's offensive attacked.
This Saturday the Men's Team will be celebrating their senior day before the 1pm game versus Purchase College. If you are able to attend, be ready to make some noise and help us celebrate the Knights that will be departing the team.
