Knights Downed At Farmingdale State

Leen makes 15 saves

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Lacrosse team continued Skyline Conference play Tuesday night, falling on the road at Farmingdale State by a score of 16-5. Three Knights finished the game with two points with freshman goalie Kenny Leen (Miller Place, N.Y.) turning aside 15 shots.
 
Tuesday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while Farmingdale State improves to 10-2 overall and evens it league mark at 1-1.
 
How It Happened
  • A tightly contested opening 30 minutes saw the Rams take a 4-3 lead into the intermission.
  • Mount Saint Mary opened the scoring on a Larry Frank (Staten Island, N.Y.) goal just over two minutes into the contest.
  • The Rams answered with two straight tallies, before Xavier Rodriguez (Hackettstown, N.J.) evened the score at 2-2 with an unassisted goal at the 9:55 mark of the second stanza.
  • Farmingdale State regained a one-goal lead on a Kyle Kolano goal with 9:21 left before halftime before Maxwell Green Wright (Central Islip, N.Y.) got the Mount back on even terms just 33 seconds later.
  • The game stayed even at three goals apiece until Thomas Stock finished off his 29th goal of the year with 2:32 left in the second period to give the Rams the one shot halftime advantage.
  • After the two teams combined for seven goals over the opening 30 minutes, Farmingdale State outscored the Mount 8-0 in the third period and tallied the first 11 goals of the second half to open a 15-3 lead with 8:13 left to play.
  • The Knights got their first goal of the second half with 4:50 remaining in the game when Mike Travers (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored a man-up goal off a feed from Frank.
  • Green Wright added his second of the game in the closing seconds to close out the scoring in the contest.
 
For The Knights
  • Green Wright finished with two goals, pushing his team lead in markers to 15.
  • Frank and Rodriguez each posted a goal and an assist with Rodriguez scooping a pair of groundballs.
  • Travers scored his 11th goal of the year and picked up two groundballs.
  • Joseph Angelillo (Pompton Plains, N.J.) led the Knights with four groundballs to go along with one caused turnover.
  • Tim Doyle (Selden, N.Y.) caused a team-high three turnovers.
  • Leen finished the game with 15 saves in goal and now has made at least 14 stops in each of the last five games for the Mount.

  • Rob Varello led all players with four goals in the game.
  • Stock posted a hat trick and four points.
  • Johnny McMahon scored three times.
  • Steven DiCarlo scored twice and totaled four points to go along with four groundballs.
  • Gino Luchetti caused four turnovers and collected seven groundballs.
  • Antonio Kaminskey went 18-for-21 in face-offs and secured 11 groundballs.
  • Dan Erler earned the win in goal with seven saves in 50:59 worth of work.
