Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Baseball team stopped a five-game losing streak on Sunday with a doubleheader sweep of Purchase, topping the Panthers 4-2 and 10-7.
Matthew Borriello (Montgomery, N.Y.) worked a completed game in the opener with
Aidan Marshall (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) recording three hits in the game two victory.

Sunday's sweep pushes Mount Saint Mary to 5-11 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while Purchase falls to 5-9 overall and 0-2 in conference games.

Game 1: Mount Saint Mary 4 – Purchase 2
How It Happened
- After falling behind 1-0 heading to the bottom of the second, Mount Saint Mary plated three runs to jump in font 3-1.
- Marshall and Liam Merlin (Reading, Mass.) started the inning with a single and walk before Robert Brust (Shirley, N.Y.) laced a one-out double to center to push home both runners.
- Brust later scored the third run of the inning on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Noah Anderson (Watervliet, N.Y.).
- Purchase got a run closer in the top of the third after a Liam Daly triple and infield single from Mason Compton.
- After a scoreless fourth, the Mount tacked on an insurance run in the home fifth to close out the scoring in the game.
- Brust started the inning with a single and after moving to second on a sacrifice bunt came home on a run scoring double from Jack Goodwin (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.).
- Borriello retired the side in order in the sixth and after two errors in the seventh put the tying runs on base got a fly out to earn his second win of the season.

For The Knights
- Brust finished the opener 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and two RBI.
- Goodwin, Marshall and Tait all finished with a hit with Marshall scoring a run and Goodwin driving in one.
- Borriello moved to 2-0 on the season with 7.0 strong innings. He surrendered two runs on four hits while striking out a pair of Panthers.

Game 2: Mount Saint Mary 10 – Purchase 7
- Mount Saint Mary found itself trailing again in the early going of game two, but responded with four runs in the bottom of the second to jump in front 4-1.
- Goodwin drove in a run with a groundout ahead of a two-run double from Anthony Franco (Franklin Square, N.Y.).
- Purchase quickly knotted the score at 4-4 in the top of the third before the Knights plated a run of their own in the third and another in the fifth to take a 6-4 advantage.
- Brust drove in Brandon Nolasco (Chester, N.Y.) with an infield single in the third before Nolasco scored on a wild pitch in the fifth.
- The Panthers against battled back to tie the score at 6-6 with two tallies in the sixth, before the Knights took the lead for good with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
- Goodwin led off the sixth with a double and later scored on a groundout from Tait.
- Following a Nolasco walk, Marshall drove a triple to right center to give the Mount back a two-run cushion.
- Purchase pulled a run closer on an RBI double from Daly in the eighth, but the Mount tacked on two insurance runs in the home half of the inning to close out the scoring in the game.
- Marshall drove in another run with a two-out single and Nolasco scored the final run on a balk.
- T.J. Gregory (Florida, N.Y.) came on to work a perfect ninth to pick up his second save of the season.

- Marshall finished game two 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBI.
- Nolasco went 2-for-4 with a double, two walks and four runs scored.
- Goodwin picked up two hits, including a double, scored twice and drove a run in.
- Coleman Barnes (New Hampton, N.Y.) recorded two hits to go along with a walk and a run scored.
- Brust posted a hit and a run scored in game two.
- Brian Gregory (Florida, N.Y.) picked up the win in relief, working 5.0 innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits.
- T.J. Gregory earned the save with a clean ninth, including a strikeout to end the game.
