Baseball Swept By Cobleskill On Final Day In Florida

Marshall drives in four in game two

Davenport, Fla. – The Mount Saint Mary College Baseball team closed out its Florida trip on Thursday with 12-2 and 10-9 losses to Cobleskill. Aidan Marshall (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) finished game two with four RBI for the Knights.

How It Happened
  • Cobleskill got on the board with a single run in the first and broke the game open with two tallies in the third and seven more in the fourth.
  • Logan Hutter doubled home the Tigers' first run and Stephen Tejada delivered both runs in the third with a two-run single.
  • In the big fourth, Hutter drove in two runs with a single and Logan Firment tacked out two more with a base hit.
  • Chris Champlin made the score 11-0 in the top of the fifth with a double that pushed Hutter across.
  • Mount Saint Mary got both of its runs in the home half of the fifth after putting together three hits in the inning.
  • Anthony Picone (Salisbury Mills, N.Y.) and Cullen Roper (Stratford, Conn.) singled to start the inning ahead of a walk to Frank Signorelli (Staten Island, N.Y.) that loaded the bases with no one out.
  • Brandon Nolasco (Chester, N.Y.) forced in Picone and Roper with a one-out double in the frame for the Knights.
  • Cobleskill closed out the scoring in the game with an unearned run in the seventh.

  • Picone finished the opener 2-for-3 with a run scored.
  • Roper closed the game with a hit and a run.
  • Nolasco drove in his fifth and sixth runs of the year with his fourth double of the season.
  • Signorelli finished the game with a hit and a walk.
  • Ryan Lockhart (Monroe Township, N.J.) suffered the loss after allowing one run over 2.0 innings.
  • Christopher Snyder (Islip, N.Y.) struck out four in 2.0 innings of relief work.
 
Game 2: Cobleskill 10 – Mount Saint Mary 9
How It Happened
  • Mount Saint Mary jumped on top 3-0 through four innings with a single run in the first and two more in the fourth.
  • Jack Goodwin (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) drove in the game's first run on a groundout and delivered another run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly.
  • Noah Anderson (Watervliet, N.Y.) doubled home Liam Merlin (Reading, Mass.) in the fourth with the inning's first run.  
  • After Cobleskill got on the board with a run in the bottom of the fourth, the Knights plated two more in the top of the fifth to move in front 5-1.
  • Marshall pushed across both runs in the frame for the Mount with a single.
  • Cobleskill scratched out another run in the bottom of the fifth before plating four runs and taking a 6-5 lead in the home half of the sixth inning.
  • Dylan Pohl brought the Tigers to within 5-4 with a two-run single before Zach Ducorsky knotted the score with an RBI groundout.
  • David Flora delivered the go ahead run on a sacrifice bunt to give the Tigers a 6-5 advantage.
  • Trailing for the first time heading into their final at-bat, the Knights plated four runs in the seventh to regain a 9-6 advantage.
  • Marshall moved the Mount back in front 7-6 with another two-run single with Shane Finch (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and Robert Brust (Shirley, N.Y.) pushing home runs with bunts.
  • Cobleskill answered again with four more runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with the sweep.
  • Firment homered to leadoff the inning and Matthew Snyder doubled home a run to make the score 9-8 with two outs in the inning.
  • The tying and deciding runs were scored on a two-out single and miscue on the infield.
 
For The Knights
  • Marshall finished game two 2-for-4 with four RBI.
  • Merlin went 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
  • Devin Tait and Nolasco each posted a hit and two runs scored.
  • Anderson and Finch both had a hit and an RBI.
  • Goodwin drove in two runs for the Knights.
  • Matthew Borriello (Montgomery, N.Y.) worked 2.0 scoreless innings in his fourth start of the season.
  • T.J. Gregory (Florida, N.Y.) suffered the loss in relief, allowing three earned runs on five hits in the seventh.
 
What's Next
  • Mount Saint Mary is scheduled to play a doubleheader at Cortland on Sunday.
