Men’s Lacrosse Downed By Vassar

Travers scores, Leen makes 14 saves

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Lacrosse team returned to Kaplan Field for the first time since season opener Wednesday evening and suffered a 21-1 non-conference loss to Vassar. Mike Travers (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored the Mount's lone goal in the contest.
 
Wednesday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 2-2 overall on the season, while Vassar wins its sixth straight contest and improves to 6-1 on the season.
 
How It Happened
  • Vassar held the Knights off the board over the first 30 minutes of play and carried a 10-0 lead into the intermission.
  • Troy Santise scored twice in the opening period and added and assist in a six goal second frame for the Brewers.
  • Baker Morton and T.J. Carl each scored twice in the second frame for Vassar with Dan Negron supplying two assists.
  • Vassar finished the first half with a 28-11 advantage in shots and a 21-12 edge in groundballs.
  • First half face-offs were controlled by the Brewers 9-2.
  • Vassar tacked on the first six goals of the third frame before Travers got the Mount on the board with his fourth goal of the year. He finished off a feed from Kaleb Pullis (Selden, N.Y.) in the final half minute of the frame.
  • Vassar answered with the final five goals of the game to close out the scoring on the night.
 
For The Knights
  • Travers moved into a tie for third on the team in goals with four and moved to within three points of the team lead with his ninth.
  • Pullis picked up his first assist and first point of the season.
  • Joseph Angelillo (Pompton Plains, N.J.) led the Mount with five groundballs.
  • Tim Doyle (Selden, N.Y.) paced the Knights with four caused turnovers and added four groundballs.
  • Kenny Leen (Mille Place, N.Y.) closed the day with a career-high 14 saves and added three groundballs.
 
For The Brewers
  • Morton, Santise and Carl all scored three goals to lead Vassar.
  • Jon Bradbury led the team with five points, scoring twice and assisting on three goals.
  • In all, Vassar had 12 different players finish with a goal in the game.
  • Solomon Hess finished the game with two caused turnovers and six groundballs.
  • Dylan McFarland caused a pair of turnovers and scored a goal.
  • Holden Anderson won eight face-offs and scooped four groundballs.
  • Thomas Cameron went 10-for-12 in face-offs.
  • Vassar used four goalies in the game with Jack Bagin making four first quarter saves.
