Patchogue, NY- The Knights headed South for a double header versus conference opponent St. Joseph's University- Long Island, and Fairleigh Dickinson University- Florham. The Knights came into the match ranked 11th in the Skyline, where as St. Joe's was ranked 3rd.
The first match of the day was against St. Joe's. MSMC's
Erin Lema lead the team in kills (7) and
Isabella Israel had 15 digs. The Mount was in it in every set, just unable to put the final nail in the coffin each time.
Game two was another nail bitter. Using the energy from the first game Coach Strano's team went on the attack early in each set.
Jonaiya Williams had 9 kills and 9 digs,
Aubriana Boyce had 17 assists, and
Vanessa Mleczko had 11 digs. The Knights dropped the first set in a tie breaker, and the second set only by 2 points.
"Right now, there is a mental block we need to figure out a way to push through and put these sets away. We are looking forward to out next match, where I think everything has finally gotten to the point where we are going to click and things are going to turn around," said coach Strano after the matches.
The team will be traveling to Purchase New York on Thursday to take on Skyline Conference opponent Purchase College.
