Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team took on SUNY Poly at Kaplan Field on Wednesday night and defeated the Wildcats 1-0. Christopher Maggi (Franklin Square, N.Y.) scored the lone goal for the Knights.
The win moves Mount Saint Mary to 2-3-1 overall on the campaign, while dropping SUNY Poly to 2-2.
First Half

The two sides were quiet for much of the opening half, before the Knights got on the board at the 32:16 mark.

The Knights scored on a shot from Maggi, with an assist coming from Matt Wyant (Beacon, N.Y.).

The shots were close to even on both sides, with Mount Saint Mary holding a slight 6-5 advantage.

The Knights had three corner kicks in the first half, while the Wildcats had none.
Second Half

The second half did not see any scoring, but not without plenty of shots, with the Knights holding an 8-5 advantage.

Connor Doyle (New Windsor, N.Y.) fired a shot in the 56th minute, but it was knocked away by the Wildcats keeper Chase Coluccio.

The 69th minute saw a shot of the foot of Quinn Tynan (Schenectady, N.Y.), but Coluccio would once again make the stop.

SUNY Poly would get the edge on corner kicks in the second half, with a 5-4 advantage.
For The Knights

Goalkeeper Caesar Martinez (Lake Katrine, N.Y.) pitched his third consecutive shutout in the win. His goals against average is now down to 1.17.

Wyant led the team in shots with four, including one on goal.

Doyle had two shots on goal for Mount Saint Mary.
For The Wildcats

Payton Bennett and Aboubacar Camara each had two shots in the contest with one on goal, good for a tie for the team lead.
