Salisbury, Md. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team opened play in the Salisbury Women's Soccer Classic Saturday afternoon with a 6-1 loss to the host Sea Gulls.
Emma Mihale (Oceanside, N.Y.) netted her first career goal and
Caroline Brucato (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) finished with 10 saves in goal for the Knights.
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 0-4 overall on the season, while Salisbury improves to 3-2 through five contests.
First Half
- The Sea Gulls opened the scoring with a pair of goals inside the first seven minutes of the contest.
- Autumn Dougherty scored her first of two goals in the game at the 51 second mark of the contest.
- Dougherty struck with her second of the game, the eventual game winner, at the 6:10 mark after finishing off a feed from Alex Jankowski.
- Salisbury added two more goals before halftime when Kyla Holt scored her second of the season in the 26th minute and Ashley Pantano potted her second of the year in the 44th minute.
- The Sea Gulls finished the opening period with a 17-4 advantage in shots.
- Corner kicks went to the Knights in the first half 5-1.
- Brucato turned aside six shots prior to the break for the Knights.
Second Half
- Salisbury opened the scoring in the second half when Pantano finished her second goal of the game off an assist from Lissette Cairnero in the 62nd minute.
- Mount Saint Mary broke through in the 66th minute when Mihale tallied an unassisted goal at the 65:44 mark of the tilt. The goal is Mihale's first career marker and the second for the Mount in 2022.
- Salisbury answered and closed out the scoring in the game in the 74th minute when Katy Poltrack finished off her first of the season from Kyra Veenema at the 73:07 mark.
- Salisbury rounded out the second half with a 12-4 advantage in shots.
- Corner kicks in the second frame were even at 1-1.
- Brucato finished the second frame with four saves for the Knights.
For The Knights
- Mihale moves into a tie for first place in goals with one and points with two following her first career marker.
- Mihale was one of eight players to finish with one shot and joined Maria Baldwin (East Patchogue, N.Y.), Wendy Guerra (Newburgh, N.Y.) and Marilena Mangiaracina (Franklin Square, N.Y.) with a shot on goal.
- Brucato finished with a season-high 10 saves and moves into the team lead in stops with 22 on the season.
For the Sea Gulls
- Dougherty and Pantano each finished with two goals for Salisbury.
- Jamkowski and Poltrack led the team with four shots apiece with Poltrack adding a goal and Jankowski posting an assist.
- Autumn Conway picked up the win in goal with three saves for the Sea Gulls.

- Salisbury finished with a 29-8 overall advantage in shots, including a 16-4 edge in shots on goal.
- Corner kicks in the game went to the Knights 6-2.
- Fouls in the contest went against Salisbury 7-6.
