Men’s Lacrosse Continues Conference Play At Purchase

Knights coming off impressive win over Mount Saint Vincent

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Lacrosse team takes to the road Tuesday night for a Skyline Conference contest at Purchase. Live Stats will be available for the 6:00 p.m. face-off with the Panthers.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary enters Tuesday's tilt winners of three of its last four outings and with a 7-3 overall record and a 1-1 mark in Skyline Conference play. The Mount scored its first league win of the season on Saturday, cruising past the College of Mount Saint Vincent 19-4.
 
Colby Martin (Huntington, N.Y.) begins the new week as the Mount's top goal scoring, potting 20 goals through the season's first 10 games. Martin checks in with 29 points to go along with 14 groundballs and three caused turnovers.
 
Brian Esposito (Floral Park, N.Y.), who totaled 10 points in Saturday's win over the Dolphins, is the team leader in points with 36. He paces the Mount with 29 assists and adds seven goals, 20 groundballs and five caused turnovers.
 
Nick Gurello (Selden, N.Y.) and Xavier Rodriguez (Hackettstown, N.J.) support the scoring attack with 15 and 12 goals, respectively.
 
Chris Maggio (Valley Stream, N.Y.) anchors the Mount's defense with team-highs in groundballs with 30 and caused turnovers with 22. Joseph Angelillo (Pompton Plains, N.J.) has forced 19 turnovers and collected 21 groundballs, while Carmine Comitini (Staten Island, N.Y.) adds 15 caused turnovers and 13 groundballs. Ryan Olmstead (Millbrook, N.Y.) has collected 27 groundballs for the Knights.
 
Robert Root (Scotch Plains, N.Y.) continues to lead the team with 35 face-off wins with Dennis Dowd (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) adding 23 wins. Bobby DeSantis (Patchogue, N.Y.) is 22-for-27 in face-offs for the Mount and adds 20 groundballs.
In goal, Devin Kelley (Hebron, Conn.) has earned the decision in nine of the 10 contests and has stopped 75 shots. He holds an 8.05 goals against average and a .543 save percentage to go along with 22 groundballs and three caused turnovers.
 
Previewing Purchase: Purchase enters play on Tuesday at 4-4 overall and 0-2 in Skyline Conference play. The Panthers have dropped their last three outings and are in search of their first win since an 8-4 triumph over Cairn on March 20.
 
Ben Erkan leads the scoring attack for the Panthers with 17 goals and 21 points, while Cristian Ishoo checks in with 13 goals and 18 points. Zach Collins adds eight goals, while Conor Schwenker leads the team with seven assists to go along with six tallies.
 
Erkan is the team's top face-off winner, earning 55 draws and adding a team-high 48 groundballs. Joe Ely has won 29 face-offs for Purchase and collected 28 groundballs. Riley Donovan has caused a team best 19 turnovers and scooped 23 groundballs.
 
In goal, Will Boes has played 481:08 of a possible 483:00 and has stopped 101 shots. He is sporting a 7.98 goals against average and a .612 save percentage.
 
Recent History: Since 2017, the Panthers' first varsity season, the Mount is 4-0 in the head-to-head series. Mount Saint Mary scored a 16-4 triumph in Newburgh in the last matchup on April 13, 2021.
 
What's Next: Mount Saint Mary is off until April 20 when it travels to Manhattanville.
