Men’s Lacrosse Plays Host To Farmingdale State Saturday Afternoon

Knights open Skyline Conference play against Rams

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Lacrosse team will return to action for the first time since March 24 when it opens Skyline Conference play against Farmingdale State at home Saturday afternoon. Live Stats and Video will be available for those who are unable to attend the 1:00 p.m. contest.
 
At A Glance: The Knights enter Saturday's tilt with the Rams at 5-2 overall and are coming off a 21-4 non-conference victory over Eastern Nazarene last Thursday.
 
Through seven games, Colby Martin (Huntington, N.Y.) leads the offensive attack with 18 goals and 26 points while adding nine groundballs and three caused turnovers. Nick Gurello (Selden, N.Y.) supports the offense with 10 goals and 12 points, chipping in nine groundballs and a pair of caused miscues.
 
Brian Esposito (Floral Park, N.Y.), coming off a six-assist game against Eastern Nazarene, leads the team and the conference in helpers with 18 and is second on the squad with 20 points. Esposito adds 12 groundballs and four caused turnovers for the Knights.
 
Larry Frank (Staten Island, N.Y.), who was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday, checks in with seven goals and nine points, while Sean Mueller (Pleasantville, N.Y.) has amassed 14 points on the strength of six goals and eight assists through seven contests.
 
Joseph Angelillo (Pompton Plains, N.J.) has caused a team-high 14 turnovers for the Knights and collected 15 groundballs, while Chris Maggio (Valley Stream, N.Y.) has forced 13 turnovers and scooped 15 groundballs. Carmine Comitini (Staten Island, N.Y.) has collected 10 groundballs and caused 10 turnovers for the Mount.
 
Robert Root (Scotch Plains, N.J.) continues to lead the team with 35 face-off wins and 17 groundballs, while Anthony Paggiotta (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) has won 34 face-offs and collected 16 groundballs.
In goal, Devin Kelley (Hebron, Conn.) has made six starts and played 336:46 of a possible 417:37. Kelley has made 56 saves for the Knights and is sporting an 8.37 goals against average and a .544 save percentage to go along 13 groundballs.
 
Scouting Farmingdale State: The Rams come calling on Saturday with a 6-1 overall record and winners of their last three contests. Farmingdale State is coming off a 22-3 victory over Alvernia on Saturday.
 
Terrence Haggerty leads the Rams and the Skyline Conference with 26 goals and 40 points over the first seven games of the season. Haggerty also contributes two caused turnovers and seven groundballs.
 
Johnny McMahon leads the team with 15 assists and is has potted 14 goals for 29 points through seven tilts. McMahon adds seven caused turnovers, 25 groundballs and seven face-off wins.
 
Rob Varello chips in 22 goals for the Rams with Jake Wandle and Hunter Lyons adding 12 and 10, respectively.
 
Antonio Kaminskey has won 86 face-offs for the Rams and scooped 62 groundballs, leading the Skyline Conference in groundballs, face-off wins and face-off win percentage. Gino Luchetti anchors the defense with 15 caused turnovers and 16 groundballs.
 
In goal, Kevin Loonie has seen the bulk of action, playing 330:00 of a possible 420:00. He has stopped 71 shots and holds a .683 save percentage, ranking second in the conference. Loonie is posting a 6.00 goals against average, tops in the conference, and has collected seven groundballs.
 
Recent History: The two teams have met 11 times since the Mount's first varsity season in 2010. The Knights posted a tight 9-7 victory over the Rams in Newburgh on March 24, 2018, their only win against Farmingdale State.
 
What's Next: The Knights close out a three-game home stand with a non-conference game against Mitchell on April 6.
