Knights Cruise Back Into Win Column

13 different players score in win

Newburgh, N.Y. – 13 different players found the scoring column and 15 players recorded at least one point as the Mount Saint Mary College Men's Lacrosse team overwhelmed Eastern Nazarene Thursday night by a score of 21-4. Matt Tellekamp (Oakdale, N.Y.) and Brian Esposito (Floral Park, N.Y.) led the offensive attack with six points apiece.
 
Thursday's win improves Mount Saint Mary to 5-2 overall on the season, while the Lions dropped to 0-5 in their first ever season.
 
How It Happened
  • Mount Saint Mary erupted for 10 first quarter goals and carried a commanding 16-2 advantage into halftime.
  • Colby Martin (Huntington, N.Y.) scored four times in the opening period with Esposito assisting on four tallies in the opening 15 minutes.
  • After allowing a Lions goal with just under five minutes left in the first stanza, the Knights scored the final nine goals of the first half. Tellekamp scored three times in the second frame for the Mount.
  • Mount Saint Mary outscored Eastern Nazarene 5-2 in the second half with Sal Gallucci (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Daniel Keneally (Warwick, N.Y.) scoring with the man advantage after halftime.
  • Tellekamp finished the second half with his fourth goal and an assist.
 
For The Knights
  • Tellekamp finished the night with four goals and a pair of assists for the first six points of the season. He added five groundballs and a caused turnover for the Knights.
  • Esposito assisted on six goals, moving his team lead in the category to 18. He closed the win with a trio of groundballs.
  • Martin scored four goals and added an assist, moving his team lead in markers to 18 and points to 26.
  • Larry Frank (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Matt Wodka (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) each scored two goals in the win. Wodka finished the night with four caused turnovers.
  • Brian Schneider (Hicksville, N.Y.) finished with a goal and two assists.
  • Anthony Paggiotta (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) and Joe Keating (Pleasantville, N.Y.) each finished with a goal and an assist.
  • Paggiotta finished 12-for-18 in face-offs with a team-high seven groundballs.
  • Ryan Olmstead (Millbrook, N.Y.) scored once and picked up six groundballs.
  • Dennis Dowd (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) went 8-for-9 in face-offs.
  • Kevin Leonard (Stony Brook, N.Y.), Shamus Holohan (Ballston Lake, N.Y.), Tim Lawlor (Ocean Township, N.J.) and Michael McCarthy (Bellmore, N.Y.) all saw time in goal with McCarthy making two saves.
 
For The Lions
  • Jamar Griggs finished with a hat trick and a groundball.
  • Andrew James scored once and collected a groundball.
  • Nathan Morales won four face-offs.
  • Jimmy Keuther won three face-offs and collected seven groundballs.
  • Ryan Almeida made 11 saves in goal.
