Men’s Lacrosse Set For Non-Conference Clashes With FDU-Florham, Eastern Nazarene

MSMC stands at 4-1 overall

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Lacrosse team returns to action with back-to-back midweek games, traveling to FDU-Florham on Wednesday before hosting Eastern Nazarene Thursday night. Live Stats and Video will be available for both contests with each set to get underway at 7:00 p.m.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday at the hands of the Wentworth Institute of Technology and enters Wednesday's tilt with the Devils at 4-1 overall.
 
Colby Martin (Huntington, N.Y.) and Nick Gurello (Selden, N.Y.) lead the scoring attack through five games for the Mount with 13 and 10 goals, respectively. Martin paces the team with 19 points and is good for seven groundballs and a pair of turnovers. Gurello chips in nine groundballs and two caused miscues for the Knights.
 
Sean Mueller (Pleasantville, N.Y.) is second on the squad with 13 points on the strength of five goals and eight assists. Brian Esposito (Floral Park, N.Y.) leads the Knights with 10 assists and checks in with eight groundballs and four caused turnovers.
 
Robert Root (Scotch Plains, N.J.) has won 35 face-offs and leads the team with 17 groundballs, while Chris Maggio (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Joseph Angelillo (Pompton Plains, N.J.) are tied for the team lead with 11 caused turnovers apiece. Angelillo has collected 11 groundballs with Maggio scooping nine through five contests.
 
In goal, Devin Kelley (Hebron, Conn.) has started all five games for the Mount and played 277:15 of a possible 297:37. He has stopped 43 shots and is posting a 9.09 goals against average and a .506 save percentage.
 
A Look At The Devils: FDU-Florham enters Wednesday's tilt at 1-4 overall on the season and is coming off a tight 15-12 loss to Penn College on Saturday.
 
Drew Gallagher sits atop the team leaderboard with 12 goals and 20 points through five games, while Michael Stewart has potted 10 goals and assisted on two others. Gallagher adds 12 groundballs and has caused a trio of turnovers.
 
Zane Johnston sits second on the team with 15 points and leads the squad with nine assists. Johnston also contributes 13 groundballs and three caused turnovers.
 
Trevor Arnone has won a team-high 59 face-offs and collected a team best 24 groundballs with MacGyver Hay anchoring the defense with 10 caused turnovers.
 
Dan Schlupp has started all five games in goal for the Devils and has made 39 saves. He enters Wednesday's contest with a 17.31 goals against average and a .429 save percentage.
 
Recent History: Wednesday's meeting will be the first between the two programs.
 
Scouting The Lions: Eastern Nazarene has played four games in its inaugural season and enters Thursday's visit to Newburgh winless in 2022.
 
Jamar Griggs leads the offense through four contests with five goals with Xavier Depina and Jimmy Keuther supplying the other two goals for the team on the season. Keuther adds seven face-offs wins and a team-high in groundballs with 20.
 
Nathan Morales is the team leader with 13 face-off wins, while Depina checks in with a team-high eight caused turnovers and 16 groundballs.
 
Ryan Almeida has played 227:00 of a possible 240:00 in goal to start the season and has amassed 65 saves. Almeida brings a 17.97 goals against average and a .489 save percentage to Kaplan Field on Thursday.
 
Recent History: Thursday's contest will be the first between the two programs.

What's Next: Mount Saint Mary opens Skyline Conference play on April 2 when it plays host to Farmingdale State.
