Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Lacrosse team outscored SUNY Delhi 5-0 in the third quarter and 5-2 in the second half on Thursday on its way to a hard fought 10-8 victory over the Broncos.
Colby Martin (Huntington, N.Y.) was one of nine different Knights with at least one point, finishing with seven, and
Devin Kelley (Hebron, Conn.) made 11 saves in goal.
Thursday's win improves Mount Saint Mary to a perfect 4-0 overall on the season, while SUNY Delhi drops to 1-4 in 2022.
How It Happened
- SUNY Delhi potted the first two goals of the game before Mount Saint Mary answered with three straight tallies, including two from Martin, to pull in front 3-2 with 4:01 left in the opening period.
- The Broncos pulled back even with a man-up goal from Benjamin Moscatiello with 15 seconds left in the opening frame.
- The Mosccastiello tally started a four-goal run for the Broncos that featured two tallies from King White. White pushed the visitors in front 6-3 with 6:36 left before halftime.
- Mount Saint Mary closed the second stanza with back-to-back goals from Mike Travers (Staten Island, N.Y.), including a man-up tally with 2:10 left in the quarter, to bring the Knights to within 6-5 at the intermission.
- Coming out of halftime, Mount Saint Mary erupted for five goals to grab just its second advantage of the game.
- Nick Gurello's (Selden, N.Y.) ninth goal of the season brought the Knights even at 6-6 early in the frame and Martin finished off a feed from Gurello to give the Knights a 7-6 advantage with just over 10 minutes left in the period.
- Larry Frank (Staten Island, N.Y.), Brian Esposito (Floral Park, N.Y.) and Gurello all scored in the final 6:54 of the third stanza to give the Mount a 10-6 advantage through three frames.
- SUNY Delhi would inch closer by two goals in the final 5:17, but would not get closer than the final two goal disadvantage.
For The Knights
- Martin continued the strong start to his season with three markers and four helpers, pushing his team lead in goals to 13 and points to 19. Martin chipped in a pair of groundballs and caused turnover to the victory.
- Gurello finished with a pair of goals and an assist, adding two groundballs.
- Travers scored twice and collected a pair of groundballs.
- Esposito scored a goal and assisted on another to go along with a groundball and a caused turnover.
- Sean Mueller (Pleasantville, N.Y.) assisted on two goals and caused a turnover.
- Chris Maggio (Valley Stream, N.Y.) caused six turnovers and collected two groundballs.
- Matthew Esposito (Manorville, N.Y.) picked up four groundballs and caused two turnovers.
- Kelley secured the win in goal with 11 saves and led the team with five groundballs.

- White finished with three goals and a caused turnover.
- Moscatiello, Brandon McGrath and Logan Bauer all finished with a goal and an assist.
- Nick Dower went 19-for-20 in face-offs and led all players with 11 groundballs.
