Knights Host Sarah Lawrence In Important Divisional Matchup

MSMC coming off home win over Purchase on Monday

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team will host Sarah Lawrence in a key Skyline Conference North Division battle Monday night. Live Stats and Video will be available for the 8:00 p.m. tip-off from the Kaplan Center.

At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary snapped a seven-game losing streak on Monday when it battled past Purchase, 62-59. The win moved the Mount to 6-13 overall on the season and to 4-7 in league play, just a game behind Wednesday's opponent from Sarah Lawrence.
 
Chris Yearwood (Red Hook, N.Y.), who led the Mount with 21 points in Monday's victory, paces the offense with just under 14 points per game on 40.6-percent shooting overall and a 40.2-percent mark from behind the arc. Yearwood adds 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game for the Mount.
 
Connor Cyran (Garfield, N.J.) has put together a solid rookie season with 9.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game with Jayden Figueroa (New Windsor, N.Y.) hauling in a team-high 9.6 rebounds per game to go along with 9.3 points and just over one block per night.
 
Paul Sienke (Washington, D.C.) is tied with Mike Dedda (West Chester, Pa.) for the team lead in assists with 2.1 and is contributing 8.3 points and 4.2 boards per contest.
 
Mount Saint Mary scores 62.1 points per game on 38.6-percent shooting overall, a 30-percent mark from three-point range and a 68.6-percent conversion rate from the free-throw line.
 
Scouting Sarah Lawrence: The Gryphons are coming off a 76-65 win over Maritime on Monday and stand at 7-11 overall and 5-6 in league action.
 
Three Gryphons score in double-figures through 18 games led by 15.1 points from Liam Barry. He converts at 44-percent overall for Sarah Lawrence and adds just shy of seven rebounds per game and a team best 3.4 assists per night.
 
Justin Bailey is good for 13.6 points per contest for Sarah Lawrence and a team-high 10.5 rebounds per game, while Xiyuan Zhang scores 10.1 points per night and has knocked down a team-high 43 three-pointers, converting at better than 38-percent from bonus distance.
 
Sarah Lawrence is scoring nearly 68 points per game on the season and shoots 39.1-percent overall, 30.5-percent from three-point range and 63.0-percent from the free-throw line.
 
Previous Meeting: The Gryphons go for the season sweep on Wednesday after hanging on for a 65-63 win over the Knights in Bronxville on January 24. Sarah Lawrence held a 17-point advantage at halftime before the Knights outscored the Gryphons 42-27 in the second stanza. The Mount made one more field goal and one more three-pointer in the game than Sarah Lawrence, but misfired on 17 free-throws in the game.
 
Yearwood led three Knights in double-figures with 16 points with Sienke and Cyran adding 14 points apiece. Amos Grey led the way for Sarah Lawrence with a game-high 20 points.
 
Recent History: Sarah Lawrence has won three of the last four head-to-head meetings with the Knights, but the Mount maintains a 9-4 advantage in the series since the start of the 2014-15 season.
 
What's Next: The Knights head back out on the road for a Saturday afternoon meeting with Purchase.
