Knights, Valiants Set For 2022 Skyline Conference Championship Semifinal

Knights posted two nine-point victories over Manhattanville in regular season

Newburgh, N.Y. – After earning the top-seed and a First Round bye, the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team opens the 2022 Skyline Conference Championship Thursday night in the Semifinal Round against fourth seeded Manhattanville. At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary enters Thursday's semifinal with a 21-3 overall record and earned the top seed with a 19-1 mark in Skyline Conference play. The Knights have won their last nine outings and have been off since a 74-37 win over Old Westbury on February 19.
 
Morina Bojka (Prospect, Conn.), who was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time this season on Monday, leads the Mount Saint Mary scoring attack with 18.3 points per game on 45.6-percent shooting from the floor. Bojka adds 8.0 rebounds per game to go along with 2.6 assists and 2.2 steals per night.
 
Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) is in the midst of a strong season for the Knights, second to just Bojka on the team in scoring with 12.5 points per contest. Smith leads the team with 2.9 assists per game and chips in 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per contest.

Annie Keenan (Nesconset, N.Y.) leads the way on the glass for Mount Saint Mary with 9.2 caroms per night and contributes 7.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per outing. Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) and Erin Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) support the offense with each contributing better than seven points per game. Desrats adds 3.3 rebounds and nearly two assists and two steals per game, while Smith has drilled a team-high 38 three-point field goals.
 
Mount Saint Mary enters Thursday's contest scoring 76.4 points per game and converts at 39.9-percent overall, 30.1-percent from three-point range and 63.5-percent from the free-throw line.
 
Scouting Manhattanville: The Valiants come to town sporting a 19-7 overall record and have won their last three outings, including a 69-52 First Round win over St. Josephs-L.I. Tuesday evening.
 
Manhattanville features four players scoring in double-figures led by 12.0 points from Faith Johnson-Desilvia and 11.9 points from Spencer Shore. Johnson-Desilvia also leads the way with 3.4 assists per game and chips in nearly six rebounds and two steals per night. Shore has knocked down a team-high 64 three-pointers and adds 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
 
Ali Mikaele, coming off a 22-point, 18-rebound performance on Tuesday, is good for 11.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and better than two assists and two steals per contest. Niyona Smith leads the way with 7.3 rebounds per night and contributes 10.5 points to the scoring attack.
 
Manhattanville pours in just shy of 73 points per game and shoots 39.5-percent overall, 28.5-percent from three-point range and 66.7-percent from the free-throw line.
 
Regular Season Meetings: The Mount posted a pair of nine-point victories over Manhattanville during the regular season, winning at the Kaplan Center on January 20 by a score of 70-61 and clinching the top-seed in the championship on the road on February 15 by a score of 80-71.
 
In the January home victory, the Mount shot just under 41-percent overall and knocked down nine three-pointers. Bojka led the way with 22 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, while K. Smith chipped in 14 points and five rebounds. Johnson-Desilvia led all players with 23 points for the Valiants.
 
In the February road victory, K. Smith poured in a career-high 26 points on 11-for-18 shooting with Bojka and Keenan chipping in 21 and 11 points. The Knights shot 46.6-percent overall.
 
Shore led the Valiants scored 20 points, knocking down four triples, with Johnson-Desilvia and Jamison Agostino chipping in 17 and 11 points. Manhattanville shot 42-percent overall with seven triples, but converted just 6-for-13 from the free-throw line.
 
Tale Of The Tape: Mount Saint Mary leads the Skyline Conference in scoring with 76.4 points per game and ranks third in field goal percentage (39.9) and three-point field goal percentage (30.1). The Mount is also tied for first in the league in three-pointers per game with 8.3
 
Manhattanville is third in the conference in scoring and three-point field goal percentage and is fourth in overall field goal percentage.
 
Individually, Bojak ranks sixth in the conference in scoring and third in the league in field goal percentage. K. Smith ranks second in field goal percentage and Keenan sits seventh in the conference in rebounding.
 
Recent History vs. Manhattanville: Since the start of the 2014-15 season, the Knights and Valiants have split six games evenly. The Knights have come away victorious in three of the last four matchups in the series.
 
Skyline Conference History: The Knights have earned the top-seed in the Skyline Conference Championship for the fourth straight time and will look to advance to the Skyline Conference Championship Final for the third time in the last four tournaments contested.
 
Mount Saint Mary won 10 straight Skyline Conference crowns from 2000-09 and have won 12 league titles in total with the last coming in 2012.
 
What's At Stake: The winner of Thursday's contest will take on the winner of the USMMA/College of Mount Saint Vincent semifinal Saturday at the highest remaining seed.
