Women’s Basketball Closes Regular Season With Senior Day Matchup Against Old Westbury

Knights look to run winning streak to nine games

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team looks to push its winning streak to nine games on Saturday afternoon when it rounds out the regular season schedule against Old Westbury on Senior Day. Live Stats and Video will be available for the 1:00 p.m. tip-off with Senior Day festivities getting underway at 12:15 p.m.

At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary won its eighth straight game and posted 20 wins in a season for the fourth straight campaign on Thursday with a 94-47 road win at Yeshiva. The victory improved the Mount to 20-3 overall on the season and 18-1 against conference rivals.
 
Morina Bojka (Prospect, Conn.) is good for an even 18.0 points per game to lead Mount Saint Mary on 45.1-percent shooting from the field. Bojka adds 8.0 rebounds per tilt to go along with 2.7 assists and 2.1 steals per game.
 
Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) supports the offense with 12.6 points per game, shooting 50.9-percent overall and an even 40-percent from three-point range. Smith leads the Knights with 3.0 assists per game and chips in 2.2 rebounds and just over one steal per night.
 
Annie Keenan (Nesconset, N.Y.) hauls in a team best 9.5 rebounds per game and contributes 8.0 points and nearly two assists to the offensive attack. Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) and Erin Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) are each good for nearly eight points per game with Desrats swiping nearly two steals a game and Smith canning a team-high 37 three-point field goals.
 
Mount Saint Mary enters the regular season finale scoring 76.5 points per game on 39.8-percent shooting overall, an even 30-percent from three-point range and a 63.7-percent mark from the free-throw line.
 
Scouting Old Westbury: The Panthers come calling on Saturday sporting a 7-13 overall record and a 6-12 mark in Skyline Conference play. Old Westbury has dropped its last four outings, with its last win coming in a 67-47 decision over Purchase on February 3.
 
Ja'nya Flash leads the scoring attack with better than 17 points per game and averages a double-double with a team-high 14.5 rebounds per outing. Cherish Francis leads the team with 4.6 assists per game and chips in just over 16 points per contest.
 
Old Westbury scores 58.7 points per game while shooting 34.4-percent overall, 25.1-percent from three-point range and 55.9-percent from the free-throw line.
 
Previous Meeting: The Knights played Old Westbury on January 15 on the road and came away with a 79-48 victory. The Mount shot 43.4-percent overall and knocked down 11 triples with Bojka leading five Knights in double-figures with 17 points. The Knights and Panthers were tied at 31-31 at the break before a 19-4 third period put the Mount in front for good in the game.
 
Recent History: The Knights have won the last five meetings with the Panthers and 24 of the 30 matchups since the start of the 2007-08 season.
 
What's Next: The Knights will be off until Thursday when they open the 2022 Skyline Conference Championship. Opponent and game time are to be announced.
