Mount Saint Mary posted a 69-49 home win over USMMA on Wednesday, moving out to a two-game lead over the Mariners in the league standings.
Morina Bojka (Prospect, Conn.) and
Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) continue to lead the Mount's scoring attack on the season with 17.5 and 12.5 points, respectively. Bojka adds 8.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.2 steals per game, while Smith leads the team with 3.2 assists while shooting 49-percent from the floor and 38.6-percent from three-point range.
Annie Keenan (Nesconset, N.Y.), coming off her third straight double-double, paces the Knights on the glass with an even 10 caroms per night to go along with 8.4 points and 2.0 assists.
Erin Smith (Goshen, N.Y.), who scored a career-high 16 points against USMMA), has canned a team-high 36 three-point field goals and
Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) contributes 8.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.0 steals per contest.
Mount Saint Mary is second in the conference in scoring with 75.3 points per contest and leads the league in three-point field goal percentage (30.2) and three-pointers per game (8.5). The Knights shoot 39-percent overall from the field and 64.8-percent from the free-throw line.
Scouting Sarah Lawrence: The Gryphons stopped a three-game losing streak with a 75-70 win over Yeshiva on Thursday to move to 7-13 overall and 5-12 in Skyline Conference play.
Kumi Tamura leads the way for the Gryphons with 13.7 points per game and collects nearly four rebounds and hands out just under three assists per contest. Kendall Haymore chips in 10.8 points per night for Sarah Lawrence and leads the team with 8.4 rebounds per game.
Camryn Davis is the top facilitator for the Gryphons with better than four assists per night to go along with 9.1 points. Jordyn Medina swipes a team-high 1.6 steals per game and contributes 7.5 points and 7.9 rebounds.
Sarah Lawrence is averaging just 58.4 points per game while allowing opponents to score better than 73 points per night. The Gryphons shoot 33.8-percent overall, 24.7-percent from three-point range and 58.6-percent from the free-throw line.
Previous Meeting: The two teams met in Bronxville on January 4 with the Knights cruising to a 90-43 road victory. Desrats led five Knights in double-figures with 15 points with K. Smith and Bojka each contributing 14 to the win. Keenan and
Toriana Tabasco (Hillsdale, N.J.) tallied 13 and 10 points, respectively, with Tabasco adding five rebounds, three blocks and a pair of steals. Keenan swiped five steals for the Mount and finished with seven rebounds and four assists.
Recent History: Since the start of the 2017-18 season, Mount Saint Mary has won each of the seven meetings between the two programs.
