Purchase, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team returned to conference play on Monday, falling in straight sets at Manhattanville by scores of 12-25, 21-25, 7-25.
Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) totaled five kills and sits two winners shy of setting the program's all-time kills record.
Monday's loss, the Mount's fourth straight, drops the Knights to 7-8 overall and to 2-2 in league play, while Manhattanville improves to 11-2 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference competition.
How It Happened
- The Knights were limited to just 11 kills in the contest.
- The Valiants used a 5-0 run in the middle stages of the first set to grab a 16-6 lead and extended the run to 7-1 to move its advantage to 18-7.
- The Mount got a kill from Erin Lema (Centereach, N.Y.) to pull to within 21-11, but Manhattanville scored four of the final five points of the frame to open a one set lead.
- In the second set, the Mount fell behind 14-5 before putting together an 8-2 run to climb to within 16-13 on a Riddle winner.
- The Valiants responded with a 5-1 run to move in front 20-14.
- The Knights took advantage of two miscues and an Angelyse Orellana (Newark, N.Y.) ace to climb back to within 22-20.
- The Knights would manage just one more point, a Lema kill, the rest of the way as Manhattanville opened a 2-0 lead.
- Mount Saint Mary recorded just two kills in the final frame and saw Manhattanville jump out to a quick 12-4 lead.
- A 7-0 stretch from the Valiants pushed the lead to 20-5.
- Following a Riddle kill, Manhattanville closed the final set with 5-1 to complete the sweep.

- Riddle finished with five of the team's 11 kills and has recorded 992 career winners, just one shy of the program record of 993. Riddle finished the contest with five digs and a block.
- Lema totaled three kills for the Knights and added two blocks and nine digs.
- Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) handed out nine assists and lifted six digs.
- Jenna Cullinan (Levittown, N.Y.) led the Knights with 11 digs and chipped in an ace.
- Ava DiScala (Seaford, N.Y.) posted three blocks.

- Alejandra Figueroa led all players with 11 kills and finished a double-double with 11 digs.
- Felicity Hoffert added 10 kills.
- Vianca Vital handed out 37 assists and added 14 digs.
- Grace Ballagas led all players with 15 digs.
