Knights Drop Non-Conference Finale At Hamilton

Maffettone tallies for the Knights

Clinton, N.Y. – Playing in its final non-conference game of the season, the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team suffered a 6-1 road loss at Hamilton Sunday afternoon. Victoria Maffettone (Sayville, N.Y.) scored her second goal of the season for the Knights.
 
Sunday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 4-10-2 overall while Hamilton improves to 6-3-4 on the season.
 
First Half
  • Neither team would score until Hamilton tallied twice in the final 15 minutes of the opening stanza.
  • Caroline Dawson opened the scoring for the Continentals in the 32nd minute when she finished off a feed from Ashlyn Gaulin at 3159.
  • The eventual game winning goal came just over a minute later when erin Rayhill converted her fourth goal of the season. She took a pass from Hyla Mosher at 41:03 and deposited the marker at 41:03.
  • Hamilton carried the 2-0 lead into halftime on the strength of a 15-1 advantage in first half shots.
  • Corner kicks went to the Continentals before halftime by a slim 3-2 margin.
  • Caroline Brucato (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) closed the opening half with five saves in goal for the Knights.
 
Second Half
  • Hamilton erupted for four goals after halftime, scoring twice in the first seven minutes of the second stanza.
  • Frankie Lilly tallied her first of the season just 1:57 into the second half to give the Continentals a 3-0 advantage.
  • Maddie Lebury followed with her first of two goals in the game in the 52nd minute when she polished off an assist from Lilly at 51:54.
  • Mount Saint Mary got on the board and cut its deficit to 4-1 at the 55:35 mark of the contest when Maffettone scored an unassisted goal, her second of the season.
  • Hamilton closed out the scoring in the game with goals from Ledbury in the 63rd minute and Allie Reed with just under five minutes left in regulation time.
  • Hamilton closed the second half with a 19-7 advantage in shots.
  • Hamilton took the only three corner kicks in the second half.
  • Christina Kakavas (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) stopped a pair of shots after halftime for the Knights.
 
For The Knights
  • Maffettone scored her second goal of the season and became the ninth player on the team with multiple goals on the year.
  • Maffettone led the Mount with four shots, including one on goal.
  • Julia Accetura (Prospect, Conn.) and Megan Stosch (North Babylon, N.Y.) each finished with a shot on goal.
  • Brucato played the opening half and finished with five saves.
  • Kakavas saw all the action after halftime and stopped the two shots.
 
For The Continentals
  • Five of Hamilton's six goals came from reserves, including two tallies from Ledbury.
  • Reed, Dawson and Rayhill all came off the bench to notch goals.
  • Lilly was the only starter to find the scoring column and she closed a big game with a goal and two assists.
  • Dawson led the team with five shots.
  • Ledbury produced a team-high three shots on goal.
  • Nieve Tonna earned the win in goal with four saves.
 
Match Statistics
  • Hamilton finished the day with a commanding 34-8 advantage in overall shots and a 14-5 edge in shots on goal.
  • Corner kicks went to the Continentals 6-2.
  • Fouls in the game were whistled 5-2 against Hamilton.
