Men’s Soccer Dealt Conference Defeat At Mount Saint Vincent

Doyle tallies fourth goal of the season

Riverdale, N.Y.  – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team continued Skyline Conference play on Saturday, suffering a 3-1 road loss at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. Connor Doyle (New Windsor, N.Y.) scored for the fourth time in the last two games for the Mount's lone tally.
 
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 2-5 overall on the season and to 1-1 in conference play. Mount Saint Vincent remains unbeaten on the season, moving to 5-0-1 on the year and 3-0-0 in league action.
 
First Half
  • Mount Saint Mary took four of the seven shots awarded in the opening 45 minutes.
  • Corner kicks in the opening period were even at 2-2.
  • Antonio Padilla opened the scoring for the Dolphins, giving Mount Saint Vincent a 1-0 lead at the 2:26 mark of the contest.
  • Doyle netted his fourth goal of the season late in the first half, evening the score in the 39th minute. He finished off an assist from Matt Wyant (Beacon, N.Y.) at 38:20 to even the score at 1-1.
  • Following the Doyle goal, neither team had an attempt before the intermission.
 
Second Half
  • Mount Saint Mary managed just one shot in the second stanza, getting outshot 5-1 by the Dolphins.
  • The game remained tied until the 66th minute when the Dolphins struck twice just over a minute apart.
  • Isaac Tamer scored the eventual game winning goal at 65:11.
  • Ian Lamas added an insurance goal at 66:47 to finish off the scoring in the game.
  • Nick Biagini (Mahopac, N.Y.) posted the only shot of the half for the Knights, putting a shot on target at 53:43.
 
For The Knights
  • Doyle and Wyant each finished with two shots and one shot on goal.
  • Doyle moved his team lead in goals to four.
  • Wyant picked up his team leading fourth assist and is now tied with Doyle for tops on the team in points with eight.
  • Zach Decker (Red Hook, N.Y.) closed the game with a trio of saves for the Knights.
 
For The Dolphins
  • Lamas scored a goal on a team-high three shots.
  • Six different Mount Saint Vincent players finished with at least one shot.
  • Joel Luna made two saves to earn the win in goal.
 
Match Statistics
  • Mount Saint Vincent finished the day with an 8-5 advantage in shots, including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal.
  • Corner kicks went to the Knights 5-3.
  • Fouls in the match were whistled 10-6 against the Dolphins.

  • Mount Saint Mary plays its first home game since September 7 when it hosts Maritime on Tuesday. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
