Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team posted its third win in the last four matches on Wednesday with a 25-8, 25-7, 25-16 road sweep at league rival Purchase.
Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished with her sixth double-double of the season and
Jackie Wolf (Kings Park, N.Y.) led the Knights with seven aces.
Wednesday's win improves Mount Saint Mary to 7-5 overall on the season and to 2-1 in Skyline Conference play. The victory over the Panthers is the Mount's 14
th straight.
First Set
- The Knights opened a quick 7-0 lead in the opening stanza, keyed by two Riddle kills and an ace from Wolf.
- Riddle posted a kill and an ace in a 4-0 run that pushed the Knights in front 14-4 in the middle of the set.
- A 6-0 stretch late in the frame opened up a 22-7 lead for the Mount. Riddle posted two kills and Wolf added two aces in the run.
- Following a Mount Saint Mary attack error, the Knights scored the final three points of the set to open a 1-0 lead. Alyssa Barbara (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) posted a service ace over the closing run.
- Mount Saint Mary totaled nine kills in the first frame and limited Purchase to a -.074 attack percentage.
Second Set
- Mount Saint Mary put away 10 kills and hit an efficient .364 in the middle stanza with Purchase totaling just two winners in 20 attacks.
- The Knights opened a 6-2 lead on a Renee Hydo (Bethpage, N.Y.) kill and later used a 6-0 stretch to grab a 12-3 advantage.
- Hydo put away another kill to push the Knights in front 16-4 before the Knights scored eight of the final nine points of the set to take a 2-0 lead. Wolf sparked the closing run with four service aces.
Third Set
- Mount Saint Mary opened an early 5-1 lead and jumped in front 8-2 following three straight Purchase errors.
- Purchase ripped off the next 10 points, taking advantage of nine Mount Saint Mary miscues, to take a 12-8 advantage.
- The Knights responded with the next 10 tallies to take the lead for good at 18-12. Hydo supported the run with a trio of kills for the Mount.
- Mount Saint Mary grabbed a 23-14 lead on a KayLani Baynes (New Windsor, N.Y.) ace and used kills from Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) and Haley Houghton (Bellerose, N.Y.) to complete the straight set victory.
For The Knights
- Riddle reached double-figures in kills for the eighth straight match with 10 winners. She lifted 13 digs to post a double-double for the fifth time in the last six outings. Riddle finished off a big match with six service aces.
- Hydo wrapped up a strong match with eight winners, four digs and a block.
- Wolf continued her strong rookie season with five kills, seven aces and a team-high 14 digs.
- Cammarata handed out 19 assists and added four digs.
- Barbara finished up the victory with 11 digs and three aces.
For The Panthers
- Hadiyah Phillips and Karina Medina led the team with three kills each.
- Skyla Schoppmeyer led all players in the match with 16 digs.
Match Statistics
- Mount Saint Mary finished the match with a 29-9 advantage in kills.
- The Knights dominated the service game with an 18-0 edge in aces.
- Purchase took a slim 2-1 advantage in total team blocks.

- The Knights will play two matches at the Ramapo Roadrunner Invitational, taking on the hosts Friday evening and FDU-Florham Saturday morning.
