Ithaca, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team returned to action on Sunday afternoon, suffering a 4-0 loss on the road at Ithaca.
Caroline Brucato (Massapequa, .Y.), making her second career start, made 13 saves in goal for the Knights.
Sunday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 1-1-1 overall on the season, while Ithaca improves to a perfect 4-0 in 2021.
First Half
- The Bombers controlled play in the opening 45 minutes, finishing the first half with a 20-0 advantage in shots.
- Ithaca got the eventual game winning goal off the foot of Sophia Mahoney who volleyed a pass from Allison Heft into the top of the net at the 37:23 mark of the opening period.
- Brucato finished a busy first half with seven saves for the Knights.
- Ithaca took each of the two corner kicks in the first half.
Second Half
- Ithaca got an insurance goal in the 78th minute when Mahoney assisted on a Megan O'Reilly marker ay the 77:26 mark of the match.
- The Bombers broke the game open with the last two goals in the final seven minutes of play.
- Bailey Fisher finished off an O'Reilly feed at 83:08 and added her second goal of the game in the 89th minute to close out the scoring in the contest.
- Ithaca finished the second half with a 19-1 advantage in shots and a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.
- Chloe Kennedy (Middletown, N.Y.) recorded the lone shot in the half for the Mount.
- Brucato made six more saves after halftime for the Mount.
For Mount Saint Mary
- With her 13 saves, Brucato has now made 27 stops over 180 minutes of work for the Mount.
- Kennedy finished with the only shot of the game, an attempt on target early in the second frame.
For Ithaca
- Delaney Rutan led nine different Bombers with at least two shots in the game with eight attempts.
- O'Reilly and Mahoney each finished with a goal and an assist.
- Fisher scored two goals on three shots.
- Claire Reader earned the shutout in goal with a single save.
Match Statistics
- Ithaca rounded out the win with a 39-1 advantage in shots, including a 17-1 edge in shots on goal.
- Corner kicks went to the Bombers 7-0.
- Fouls in the contest were called 9-6 against the home side.
