Cyran’s Career-High Leads Mount Saint Mary Past Cobleskill

Cyran nets 25 points, leads five players in double-figures

Cobleskill, N.Y. – Connor Cyran (Garfield, N.J.) poured in a career-high 25 points and was one of five players to score in double-figures as the Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team cruised to its third straight victory with an 82-58 road win at Cobleskill Tuesday night.
 
Tuesday's win moves Mount Saint Mary to 3-5 overall on the season while the Fighting Tigers fall to 1-8.
 
First Half
  • Mount Saint Mary never trailed on Tuesday and the score was tied just once in the early going of the first half.
  • The Knights jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead following a Ryan Graham (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) bucket with 13:40 left in the opening half.
  • Cobleskill battled back to knot the score at 12-12 on a Juwan Malone conversion with 10:33 left before halftime.
  • Mount Saint Mary answered with the next 12 points to grab a 24-12 advantage. The Knights connected on three of their five field goals over the run and went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Cyran led four different scorers over the stretch with six points.
  • The Knights did not allow Cobleskill closer than seven points the remainder of the half and used a Chris Yearwood (Red Hook, N.Y.) layup and a triple from Cyran in the final minute to take a 46-32 advantage into the intermission.
  • Mount Saint Mary shot an efficient 54.2-percent overall in the first half and outscored the Fighting Tigers 17-5 from the free-throw line.
  • Cyran led the Knights with 17 first half points on 4-for-5 shooting overall and a 7-for-8 effort from the free-throw line.
  • Malone matched Cyran with 17 tallies for Cobleskill at the break, going 8-for-11 from the field.
 
Second Half
  • The Mount's advantage was quickly spread to 50-32 following a pair of free-throws from Jayden Figueroa (New Windsor, N.Y.) and a bucket from Paul Sienke (Washington, D.C.) in the opening minute of the second half.
  • The Knights' lead never fell below 15 points in the second half and grew to 20 when a Cyran bucket pushed the advantage to 62-42 with just under 11 minutes left in regulation.
  • The Mount's advantage ballooned to a game-high 25 points three times in the final 6:12, including on a Sienke lay-in with 2:40 left that pushed the Knights in front 80-55.
  • Mount Saint Mary improved its shooting to 55.6-percent in the second half while holding Cobleskill to a 29.6-percent effort from the field.
  • Cyran, Figueroa and Sienke all finished the second stanza with eight points for the Knights.
 
For The Knights
  • Cyran finished his career night 8-for-11 from the field, including a pair of triples, and 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. He rounded out the evening with six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
  • Yearwood and Sienke each closed the win with 12 points for the Knights with Yearwood dishing out a team-high five assists.
  • Figueroa contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds, good for his third double-double of the season.
  • Graham chipped in 10 points and a team-high two steals.
 
For The Fighting Tigers
  • Malone closed the night with a team-high 19 points, adding five rebounds and a trio of steals.
  • Sharaim Best came off the bench to score 12 points.
  • Ja'Nyve Smith finished the night with seven points, five rebounds and a team-high three assists.
 
Game Statistics
  • Mount Saint Mary shot a season-high 54.9-percent from the field and 85.2-percent from the free-throw line.
  • Cobleskill was limited to 36.8-percent shooting and a 3-for-21 effort from three-point range.
  • Mount Saint Mary outscored Cobleskill 23-13 from the charity stripe.
