Oneonta, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team saw its four-game winning streak halted on Saturday afternoon following a 60-49 road non-conference loss at Oneonta.
Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) was one of two players to score in double-figures, matching her season-high with 11 points.
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 4-2 overall on the season while the Red Dragons improve to 2-4 on the young season. The meeting between the two sides was the first since 2005 with the Knights holding a 4-3 record over the past seven matchups.
First Quarter
- Mount Saint Mary was outscored 21-9 in the opening 10 minutes and shot just 22.2-percent from the floor.
- The Red Dragons scored the first nine points of the game and opened a 13-2 lead on an Amanda Zuntag bucket four minutes into the contest.
- Following a Desrats basket that got the Mount on the board at the 7:24 mark, the Knights went without a basket until an Annie Keenan (Nesconset, N.Y.) conversion with just four minutes left in the period.
- Oneonta grew its lead to 19-4 with 2:29 left in the frame before a Charlotte Twohig (Syosset, N.Y.) triple and a Keenan bucket in the final 1:25 of the quarter brought the Knights back to within 12 after 10 minutes of play.
- Oneonta converted at 50-percent in the quarter despite going just 1-for-7 from three-point range.
Second Quarter
- Oneonta opened a 26-9 lead on a Molly Stephens triple early in the second period and held the Knights without a field goal over the opening 2:28 of the frame.
- The Knights battled back to within 26-22 following a 13-0 run covering just over three minutes.
- The Mount went 5-for-8 from the floor over the run with Desrats leading five different scorers with four points.
- Oneonta answered right back with back-to-back buckets to get back out in front by eight points with 3:23 left before halftime.
- Mount Saint Mary closed to within four points again on a Desrats layup to get to within 30-26 before the teams went the final 1:57 without scoring leading into the intermission.
- Mount Saint Mary improved to 36.8-percent shooting in the second stanza, outscoring Oneonta 17-9.
Third Quarter
- Mount Saint Mary came out of halftime and closed to within a single point, at 34-33, on a Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) layup at the 6:35 mark of the quarter.
- The Knights tied the score on two occasions in the period and would grab its first lead of the day on a Morina Bojka (Prospect, Conn.) jumper with 33 seconds left in the stanza to give the Knights a 40-38 lead.
- Oneonta answered right back with a Jenna Harclerode conversion with 14 ticks left to knot the score at 40-40 heading into the final period.
- Both teams shot 33.3-percent from the floor in the third quarter and the Mount outscored the Red Dragons 14-10.
Fourth Quarter
- Mount Saint Mary would not be able to pull even again after grabbing the lead late in the third period.
- Oneonta scored the first five points of the final frame and grabbed a 50-43 advantage on a Zuntag basket with 7:21 left in regulation.
- The Knights cut its deficit to 53-49 on a Bojka conversion with 2:24 left to play.
- The Bojka basket would be the final points for the Mount in the game as the Red Dragons scored the final seven points to pull away for the final 11-point decision.
- Mount Saint Mary went just 2-for-17 from the field in the fourth quarter, while Oneonta converted at 54.4-percent.
For The Knights
- Bojka finished the contest 6-for-12 from the floor on her way to a team-high 16 points. She added nine rebounds and a team-high three assists.
- Desrats rounded out the day 5-for-12 from the field as she scored 11 points in a game for the second time this season. She totaled four rebounds and led the Mount with a trio of steals.
- Keenan hauled in a team-high 11 rebounds, chipping in eight points, two assists and two steals.
For The Red Dragons
- Olivia Dobrovosky rounded out the day 9-for-12 from the floor on her way to a game-high 20 points. She closed out a double-double with 11 rebounds, adding four assists and a steal.
- Harclerode led all players with 13 rebounds, chipping in four assists and nine points.
- Stephens and Zuntag each scored eight points with Stephens totaling six rebounds and three assists.
Game Statistics
- Mount Saint Mary shot a season-low 26.1-percent from the field and finished up 4-for-28 from three-point range.
- Oneonta converted at an even 40-percent, including a 4-for-17 effort from three-point range.
- Oneonta held a slim edge in paint points at 24-22 and second chance scoring at 8-5.
