Patchogue, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team suffered its fourth straight loss on Saturday afternoon, falling at St. Joseph's-L.I. by scores of 25-17, 24-26, 21-25, 15-26.
Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished with 19 kills for the Knights with
Jackie Wolf (Kings Park, N.Y.) putting away 10 winners.
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 8-9 overall and 2-4 in conference action, while the Golden Eagles improve to 5-8 and 3-1 in Skyline Conference play.
First Set
- The Knights got off to a quick start with 12 kills while hitting .243 in the opening frame.
- A 5-0 run highlighted by a Wolf kill pushed the Knights in front 9-3.
- A 3-0 run later in the set, keyed by a Riddle service ace, expanded the Mount's lead to 20-12.
- Mount Saint Mary closed the set with four of the final six points, sparked by kills from Renee Hydo (Bethpage, N.Y.) and Riddle, to open a 1-0 lead in the match.
Second Set
- The Knights were held to five kills and a -.038 attack percentage in the second set.
- A back-and-forth set saw the Golden Eagles open a 16-13 lead following a four-point run keyed by three Tara Langford aces.
- St. Joseph's would maintain the lead in the set until a kill from Riddle and an ace from Alyssa Barbara (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) knotted the score at 24-24.
- St. Joseph's answered with the final two points, including a kill from Deirdre Carney, to even the match at 1-1.
Third Set
- St. Joseph's used a pair of 4-0 spurts in the early going of the third set to gain a 13-8 advantage.
- Mount Saint Mary rallied with a four-point run of its own, getting kills from Riddle and Haley Houghton (Bellerose, N.Y.), to jump in front 18-17.
- St. Joseph's came back with five straight tallies, taking advantage of four Mount Saint Mary miscues, to regain a 22-18 advantage.
- The Knights battled backed to within 22-20, before a pair of Amanda Goldstein kills sparked a 3-1 run to finish off the set and give the Golden Eagles a 2-1 lead.
- Mount Saint Mary put away 13 kills in the third frame.
Fourth Set
- Mount Saint Mary was limited to seven kills in the final set, while the Golden Eagles put away 12 kills and hit .250.
- St. Joseph's broke open the final frame with a 12-0 scoring run that pushed it in front 19-7.
- Back-to-back kills from Goldstein closed out a 3-1 closing run and the set to give St. Joseph's the 3-1 victory.
For The Knights
- Riddle produced double-figures in kills for the 13th straight match, hitting an efficient .341 against the Golden Eagles. She closed out a strong all-around match with two aces and 12 digs.
- Wolf reached the 10-kill mark for the sixth time in 2021, adding two aces and a team-high 14 digs.
- Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) handed out 27 assists and lifted nine digs for the Knights to go along with a team-high three aces.
- Hydo and Barbara each finished the contest with 11 digs for the Knights.
For The Golden Eagles
- Carney led the offensive attack with 16 kills, adding two blocks and four digs.
- Goldstein put away 11 kills to go along with four blocks and six digs.
- Langford handed out a match-high 28 assists and led all players with five aces.
- Kellianne Dempsey lifted a match-high 18 digs.

- St. Joseph's finished the day with a slim 40-37 advantage in kills, hitting .122 as a team against a .077 mark for the Knights.
