Tuesday's win brings Mount Saint Mary back to the .500 mark overall at 9-9 and improves it to 3-4 in Skyline Conference play. The Knights handed Sarah Lawrence their first conference loss of the season and picked up their ninth straight win over the Gryphons since the start of the 2007 season.
First Set
- Mount Saint Mary held Sarah Lawrence to just three kills in the first frame, while putting away 11 and hitting .143 as a team.
- The Knights opened the set with the first six points, highlighted by a kill and two aces from Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.).
- After Sarah Lawrence came back to within 11-9, the Knights ripped off five straight points and seven of the next eight to build an 18-10 advantage. Jackie Wolf (Kings Park, N.Y.) recorded three aces over the stretch for the Mount.
- Mount Saint Mary would not let Sarah Lawrence closer than six points the rest of the set and finished the frame with five of the final six points. Wolf recorded two kills for the Knights down the stretch with Renee Hydo (Bethpage, N.Y.) pushing the Knights in front 1-0 with a winner to close out the set.
Second Set
- Sarah Lawrence evened the match at 1-1 despite the Mount holding a 14-8 advantage in kills in the set.
- After gaining a 4-2 lead in the early going of the frame, the Gryphons led the rest of the way.
- After falling behind 20-13, Mount Saint Mary scored five of the next six points to pull to within 21-18. Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) sparked the run with a trio of winners.
- Mount Saint Mary later pulled to within 23-22 with a 4-1 run aided by three Sarah Lawrence miscues.
- The Gryphons finished off the set with the final two points, both coming on Mount Saint Mary errors.
Third Set
- Mount Saint Mary rebounded in the third frame, overcoming an early 5-2 deficit.
- The Gryphons would maintain the lead until a Wolf winner brought the Mount even at 14-14.
- Sarah Lawrence responded with the next three points to regain a 17-14 advantage.
- Mount Saint Mary answered back with five straight points and six of the next seven to grab a 20-18 advantage. Wolf again keyed the run with a pair of service aces.
- Kaille Ferguson got Sarah Lawrence back to within 20-19 before the Mount scored the final five points of the set to pull in front 2-1 in the match. Cammarata finished the closing run with a kill and two aces for the Knights.
Fourth Set
- Mount Saint Mary recorded 13 kills in the fourth set to put the match away.
- The Mount opened the set with the first five points with Riddle posting a kill and a pair of aces.
- The Knights maintained the advantage until a five-point run from Sarah Lawrence evened the score at 9-9.
- Sarah Lawrence pulled in front 13-11 with a three-point run capped by a Ferguson kill.
- Mount Saint Mary rallied with a six-point run to surge in front 17-13, grabbing a lead it would not give back. Riddle highlighted the stretch with a pair of kills for the Knights.
- Mount Saint Mary moved its lead to 23-16 with a 6-1 spurt capped by a Barbara service ace.
- After the Gryphons pulled to within 24-20, Wolf ended the match with her 14th kill of the night.
For The Knights
- Riddle finished the night with a team-high 16 kills, reaching double-figures in winners for the 14th straight outing. She capped a double-double with 20 digs and added a pair of service aces.
- Wolf finished the night with 14 kills for the Knights, adding 17 digs and a match-high six aces.
- Hydo put away nine kills for the Mount and joined Wolf with 17 digs.
- Cammarata rounded out a double-double with 35 assists and 19 digs while totaling four aces and five kills.
- Barbara closed out her career night with 35 digs, besting her previous mark of 27. She finished the night with six assists and an ace for the Knights.
For The Gryphons
- Davis Mathis led Sarah Lawrence with 11 kills, adding nine digs.
- Ferguson finished with seven kills, 11 digs and a team-high two aces.
- Mia Rector closed a double-double with 23 assists and 23 digs.
- Jane Joncha equaled the match-high with 35 digs.
