Men’s Soccer Continues Skyline Conference Play Against Farmingdale State, Yeshiva

Knights travel to conference front runner Farmingdale State Wednesday

Newburgh, N.Y. – Winner of its last two outings, the Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team continues Skyline Conference play this week with a trip to first place Farmingdale State on Wednesday and a home tilt with Yeshiva on Sunday afternoon. Live Stats and Video will be available for both Wednesday's 6:00 p.m. road kick-off and Sunday's 12:00 p.m. contest at Kaplan Field.

At A Glance: The Mount has moved to within a game of the .500 mark at 4-5 overall and to 3-1 in league play following 5-0 victories over Maritime and Sarah Lawrence last week.
 
Connor Doyle potted four goals over the two-game stretch and leads the team with eight markers and is tied for the team lead in points with 16. Matt Wyant (Beacon, N.Y.) posted a goal and two assists in each game last week, pushing his team lead in assists to eight while tying the team standard in points with 16.
 
Peter Ramirez (New Windsor, N.Y.) is third on the team with two goals after potting his second of the season in the win over Maritime with Anthony Guglielmo (Setauket, N.Y.), J.C. Lopez (East Islip, N.Y.) and David Giraldo (Farmingdale, N.Y.) all scoring their first goal of the season against Sarah Lawrence.
 
In goal, Zach Decker (Red Hook, N.Y.) has registered four shutouts in goal while making 42 saves. He holds a .737 save percentage and a 1.63 goals against average.
 
Skyline Conference Honors: The Knights have claimed each of the last two Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Week awards. Doyle earned accolades after posting a hat trick in a 5-0 win over Old Westbury on September 22 while Wyant was honored on Tuesday following an eight-point week.
 
Conference Leaders: Doyle sits atop the conference leader board in goals with his eight, while Wyant is tops in the league in assists with eight. The duo is tied for the conference lead in points with 16 apiece.
 
Previewing Farmingdale State: The Rams sit atop the conference table heading into Wednesday's conference contest with an unblemished 4-0 league record and a 6-3 record overall. Farmingdale State has won its last four contests, all via shutout, including a 2-0 victory over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on October 2.
 
The Rams have allowed just 66 shots in nine games, an average of just over seven per contest, and are allowing one goal per tilt. The Rams are outshooting their opponents 134-66 and hold a 50-18 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Michael Lanouette and Carlos Rivera pace the team with five goals and three assists for 13 points apiece heading into Wednesday's tilt.  Erick Maldonado has scored three times to date, with all markers proving to be game winners.
 
Justin Silva has played 638:52 of a possible 827:34 in goal for the Rams to date. He holds an .857 save percentage and a .056 goals against average while stopping 24 saves.
 
A Look At The Maccabees: Yeshiva takes a 1-2 overall record and a 1-1 conference mark into a conference clash with Manhattanville on Thursday. The Macs are coming off a 2-1 victory over Old Westbury in their last outing, with Josh Ziarno and Ethan Fettaya scoring early first half goals.
 
Lucas Baredes leads the offensive attack through three games with a pair of goals for four points, while Fettaya has a goal and an assist to his record.
 
Three keepers have seen action to date for Yeshiva with Sagi Badash seeing the bulk of time, playing 254:34 of a possible 280:47. He has stopped nine shots and is posting a .643 save percentage and a 1.77 goals against average.
 
Recent History: Mount Saint Mary is 9-5-1 in the last 15 meetings with Farmingdale State and has won the last five contests. Most recently, the Mount scored a 3-1 regular season win in 2019 and then a 2-1 double overtime win over the Rams in the 2019 Skyline Conference Championship Semifinal.
 
Against Yeshiva, the Mount is unbeaten in the last 13 contests, holding a 12-0-1 record. Following a 1-1 draw in 2015, the Knights have won the next four matchups with the Maccabees, outscoring them 16-4.
 
What's Next: Following Sunday's tilt with Yeshiva, Mount Saint Mary will travel to St. Joseph's-L.I. on Tuesday before hosting Purchase on Saturday afternoon.
