Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team traveled to first place Farmingdale State on Wednesday and played the front running Rams to a 1-1 draw.
Connor Doyle (New Windsor, N.Y.) scored his team leading ninth goal of the season and
Zach Decker (Red Hook, N.Y.) made seven saves in goal.
Wednesday's draw moves Mount Saint Mary to 4-5-1 overall on the season and to 3-1-1 in Skyline Conference play, while Farmingdale State stands at 6-3-1 and 4-0-1 in league competition. The Mount is not 9-5-2 in its last 16 meetings with Farmingdale State with three of the last four meetings going past regulation time.
First Half
- Neither team would find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes with Mount Saint Mary holding a slim 4-3 advantage in shots.
- Corner kicks in the first half went to the Mount 5-1.
- Decker finished with a pair of saves before halftime.
- Justin Silva kept the Knights off the board with one stop in the first half.
Second Half
- Mount Saint Mary broke through first when Doyle tallied his ninth of the season in the 52nd minute. He buried a pass from Joseph Mesoraca (Oceanside, N.Y.) at 51:51 to give the Knights a 1-0 advantage.
- The Knights maintained the one goal advantage until the 69th minute when Alex Castano potted his first of the season. He finished off a passing combination from Roberto Alfaro and Nemiah O'Neill at 68:46 to level the score at 1-1.
- Following the Farmingdale State goal, Decker had to stand tall, making a pair of stops to get the game into overtime.
- Farmingdale State outshot the Mount in the second half 11-6.
- Corner kicks went to the Rams in the second stanza 4-1.
- Both Decker and Silva made three saves in the second half.
Overtime Periods
- Farmingdale State outshot Mount Saint Mary 4-2 in the two overtime periods, with the Rams holding a 2-0 edge in the first extra frame.

- Mesoraca and Christopher Maggi (Franklin Square, N.Y.) each finished with a shot on net.
- Decker finished with seven stops, his seconds highest total of the season. He now holds a 1.53 goals against average and a .754 save percentage while making 49 saves.
For The Rams
- Farmingdale State is unbeaten in its last five contests (4-0-1).
- Castano scored for the first time in 2021.
- Alfaro assisted on his second goal of the year, while O'Neill picked up his first assist of the season.
- Alfaro led the team with five shots.
- Carlos Rivera finished with four shots, including three on goal.
- Silva closed out the night with five saves.
