Women’s Volleyball Finishes Off Regular Season At NJCU, Rowan

Knights looking to extend four match winning streak

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team will take to the road for its final three regular season matches when it travels to New Jersey City University on Thursday and Rowan for a tri-match with Brooklyn College on Saturday. Live Stats and Video will be available for all three matches this week for those who are unable to attend.

At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary has won its last four matches and enters Thursday's road match with the Gothic Knights at 14-11 overall. Most recently, the Knights scored 3-0 wins over Maritime and Pratt on Saturday in their final home regular season matches of the season.
 
Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) is in the midst of a standout season for the Knights and begins the week with 403 kills, averaging 4.48 per set, while hitting .252 on the season. She has reached at least 10 kills in 21 straight matches and is the first Knight to produce at least 400 winners in a season since Mount Saint Mary Hall of Famer Mary Ann Raftery put away 404 winners in 2012.
 
In addition to her kills total, Riddle begins the week second on the team in service aces (63), digs (286) and total blocks (22).
 
Freshman Jackie Wolf (Kings Park, N.Y.) paces the Mount with 79 service aces and is second to Riddle on the team in kills with 211. Wolf begins the week ranked third on the team in digs with 250.
 
Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) is good for nearly eight assists per set and has handed out a total of 706 helpers to go along with 28 service aces. Cammarata is also one of five Knights to lift as least 200 digs with 218 on the season.
 
Alyssa Barbara (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) has collected 393 digs, averaging 4.52 per set, to go along with 37 service aces, while Renee Hydo (Bethpage, N.Y.) has lifted 221 digs and totaled 26 aces. Freshman Haley Houghton (Bellerose, N.Y.) leads the Knights with 28 total blocks on the season.
 
Skyline Conference Leaders: Riddle begins the week as the Skyline Conference leader in total kills (403) and kills per set (4.48) and sits seventh in hitting percentage, third in aces and 12th in digs.
 
Wolf leads the conference in total aces and aces per set, with Barbara leading the league in total digs and ranking second in the conference in digs per set.
 
Scouting NJCU: The Gothic Knights enter Thursday's match at 13-10 overall and will be looking to stop a four-match skid. In its last outing NJCU was swept by Montclair State on Tuesday.
 
Paola Toledo sits atop the team leaderboard in kills with 209 on the season and ranks second on the team in total blocks with 26. Leah Seickendick paces the Gothic Knights with 63 total blocks, while Madeline Lopez is tops on the team with 205 digs.
 
Sydney Lore leads the way with 32 service aces and is good for 8.49 assists per set, handing out 586 helpers to date on the season.
 
Previewing Brooklyn: The Bulldogs enter Saturday's tri-match at 13-11 overall and are coming off a sweep of the City College of New York on Tuesday. Brooklyn has won three of its last five outings overall.
 
Aleah Rafat and Ashley Fung pace the offensive attack with 262 and 258 kills, respectively, with the duo sitting atop the team leaderboard in assists as well with Fung totaling a team best 43 and Rafat posting 42. Rafat also leads the way on the team with 249 digs, averaging better than three per set.
 
Noa Young ranks first on the team with 20 total blocks, while Ezri Shor has handed out 604 assists, good for just over eight per set. Shor also ranks second on the team in digs with 223.
 
A Look At Rowan: Rowan enters a Wednesday match with league rival Kean at 21-5 overall and a perfect 7-0 in NJAC play. The Profs have won four of their last five matches, winning two of three contests at the DeSales Quad-match last weekend.
Brianna Newsom leads five players with at least 100 kills on the season with 310 and is fourth on the team with 38 total blocks. Courtney Rhoden paces the Profs with 62 total blocks and is fifth on the team with 115 kills.
 
Brooke Adams is tops on the squad with 47 service aces and has handed out 916 assists, good for just under 10 per set. Simone Sparano leads the way with 438 digs and averages just shy of five digs per set.
 
Recent History: Since the start of the 2009 season, the Knights have won each of the four meetings against NJCU. Most recently, the Knights scored five set win in Newburgh on September 27, 2018.
 
Similarly, the Knights have won three of their last four contests against Brooklyn dating back to 2007. The Mount has won the last three matches, including a sweep in Newburgh on September 21, 2016.
 
Saturday's match with Rowan will be the first between the two sides since 2014, a four-set home win for the Profs.
 
What's Next: The Knights will await seeding and matchups for next week's Skyline Conference Championship.
