Women’s Soccer Rounds Out Regular Season Against Purchase, Yeshiva

Knights coming over overtime loss to #11 Hamilton

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team plays the final two games of the regular season this week, traveling to Purchase on Wednesday before hosting Yeshiva on Thursday. At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary will play its first road contest since October 2 on Wednesday when it heads to Purchase. The Knights enter the tilt with the Panthers having lost three of their last four, including a tight 1-0 overtime loss to #11 Hamilton on Sunday, and begin play this week with a 7-6-2 overall record and a 6-1-1 mark in Skyline Conference play.
 
Brittany Bornstad (Linden, N.J.) anchors the backline for the Knights, who have allowed just four goals in conference play, and leads the offense with five goals, five assists and 15 points. KellyAnn Platt (Staten Island, N.Y.) supports the offense with four goals, including one game winner, and eight points for the Knights.
 
Nikki Carter (Southington, Conn.), Julia DeSantis (Islip, N.Y.), Jackie Lindsay (Baldwin, N.Y.), Raina Quinones (West Babylon, N.Y.), Maggie Zecca (Mountainside, N.J.) and Liz Ellsworth (Suffern, N.Y.) have all scored twice to date for the Knights with Ellsworth and Carter each scoring a game winning goal.
 
In goal, Christina Kakavas (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) has started 10 of the team's 15 games and played 961:40 of a possible 1,394:29. Kakavas enters the week with a .819 save percentage, tops in the Skyline Conference, to go along with a 1.22 goals against average. Kakavas has made 59 saves and produced a trio of shutouts for the Knights.
 
Previewing Purchase: The Panthers enter their season finale with a 4-9 overall record and a 2-7 mark against league rivals. Purchase has dropped its last three outings, including an 8-1 loss to Manhattanville on Saturday.
 
The Panthers feature a pair of players with at least 10 goals led by 14 from Kristen Purcell who adds four assists for a team-high 32 points. Purcell enters Wednesday's game second in the conference in goals and third in the league in points.
 
Rebecca Colgan checks in with 10 goals and a team-high five assists, sitting second on the squad with 25 points. Colgan has scored half of the team's game winning goals heading into the season finale. Rebecca Quick supports the offensive attack with three goals and three helpers for the Panthers.
 
Haley Cascio has started 13 of the team's 14 games to date and played 1,126:09 of a possible 1,171:09 in goal. She has stopped 116 opponent shots and recorded a single shutout. Cascio enters Wednesday's contest with a .695 save percentage and a 4.08 goals against average.
 
Scouting Yeshiva: The Maccabees come to town on Thursday winless in 10 contests and 0-9 in Skyline Conference play. Most recently, Yeshiva dropped a 2-0 decision to Saint Elizabeth on Sunday.
 
Lior Pinchot has scored seven of the team's nine goals on the season and adds an assist for a team-high 15 points. Anjelica Feig paces the Macs with two assists and has scored once for four points on the season.
 
Sophie Dubin has started nine of the team's 10 games in goal to date and has stopped 153 shots, the top save total in the Skyline Conference. She holds a .627 save percentage in 742:27 of work in net to date.
 
Recent History: Since 2016, the Knights are 4-0 against Purchase and outscoring the Panthers 17-0.
 
The Knights have won the last nine meetings with Yeshiva, allowing just one goal over that stretch.
 
What's Next: The Knights will learn their opponent and site for the upcoming Skyline Conference Championship upon completion of Wednesday and Thursday's contests.
