New York, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team stepped outside of conference play on Saturday, falling to Montclair State 25-22, 15-25, 12-25, 21-25 and host Hunter 17-25, 25-18, 12-25, 25-19, 10-15.
Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) and
Jackie Wolf (Kings Park, N.Y.) each finished with 15 kills against Montclair State.
Saturday's results drop Mount Saint Mary to 10-11 overall on the season.
Montclair State 3 – Mount Saint Mary 1
How It Happened
- Mount Saint Mary got out to a 1-0 lead after putting away 10 kills and hitting .174 in the opening frame.
- The Knights held a 9-6 advantage in winners in the second frame, but made 11 attack errors that saw the Red Hawks even the score at 1-1.
- Mount Saint Mary rebounded with 11 more winners in the third frame, but Montclair State went without an attack error and hit a blistering .684 in the set.
- Both teams finished the third frame with 12 kills, but the Red Hawks hit .286 in the frame against a .092 for the Mount.
For The Knights
- Riddle continued her big season with 15 kills for the Knights, rounding out a double-double with 10 digs. Riddle contributed four service aces in the match for the Knights.
- Wolf hit an efficient .357 in the opener on her way to 15 winners. She joined Riddle with a team-high four aces and rounded out the match with eight digs.
- Danielle Guarasci (Plainview, N.Y.) added five kills for the Mount.
- Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) handed out 33 assists for the Mount and lifted four digs.
For Montclair State
- Leah Higgins led the team with 12 kills, hitting .571
- Skylar Kowalski added 11 winners for the Red Hawks.
- Kelly Waterman handed out a team-high 22 assists and lifted three digs.
- Carly Waterman equaled the match-high with 10 digs.
Match Statistics
- Mount Saint Mary finished the match with a 42-41 advantage in kills, but Montclair State hit .376 as a team.
- Service aces went to the Knights 10-8.
- The Red Hawks controlled the net with a 15-1 advantage in total blocks.

How It Happened
- The Knights claimed wins in the second and fourth sets, tying the match at 1-1 and 2-2 with each victory.
- Hunter claimed the first set with a 12-7 advantage in kills.
- The Knights came even in the second frame with nine winners and closed the set with a 4-1 run to get to 1-1.
- The Knights were limited to just three kills in the third set.
- The Mount came back with 14 kills and hit .284 in the fourth frame to even the match at 2-2.
- Hunter put away nine kills in the deciding fifth set to sneak out with a five-set victory.
For The Knights
- Wolf led the Mount's offensive attack with 13 more kills against the Hawks. She closed out a double-double with 12 digs.
- Riddle reached double-figures in kills for the 17th straight match with 12 kills. Riddle finished off her second double-double of the day with 16 digs.
- Renee Hydo (Bethpage, N.Y.) and Stephanie Mele (Newburgh, N.Y.) each recorded five kills.
- Cammarata finished a strong match with 31 assists, four aces and 10 digs.
- Alyssa Barbara (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) led all players in the match with 28 digs, adding an ace.
- Haley Houghton (Bellerose, N.Y.) totaled four blocks for the Knights.
For Hunter
- Mariam Ouattara led the team with 13 kills and totaled five blocks.
- Maripaz Lojano added 10 winners, 12 digs and two aces.
- Justine Smith led all players with 41 assists.
- Erin Hyman paced the team with 22 digs.
Match Statistics
- Hunter posted a 53-38 advantage in kills.
- The Hawks finished with a slim 10-9 edge in service aces.
- Hunter rounded out the day with a 6-4 advantage in total team blocks.
