Newburgh, N.Y. - Sophomore
Toriana Tabasco (Hillsdale, N.J.) recorded career highs in points and rebounds for her second career double-double as the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team won its ninth straight game on Tuesday evening over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 76-53.
The Bears came out of the gate early by scoring the first eight points of the contest with six of them coming from Skyline leading scorer Kelly O'Donnell. The Knights cut the lead to 12-7 on a three-pointer from

The Mount took its first lead of the contest on a three-pointer from sophomore
Annie Keenan (Nesconset, N.Y.) to open the second quarter before the Bears scored four straight to take the lead back. A
Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) layup put the Knights up seven with three and a half minutes remaining. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn tallied the next nine points to take a 31-29 lead but sophomore
Julia Lavin (Ledyard, Conn.) knocked down a corner three-pointer to give the Mount the lead at the half.
Gabriella Rafaniello (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led a balanced scoring attack in the first half with six points as eight different Knights found the scoring column early. O'Donnell registered 18 first half points for the Bears as they shot 36.7-percent from the field. Mount Saint Mary was 11-for-36 at the break but knocked down five more threes than St. Joseph's-Brooklyn.
Both teams traded buckets back and forth over the first six minutes of the third quarter as neither team could get more than a five point lead. After two Jamie Provino free throws cut the lead to three at the 5:26 mark, Mount Saint Mary rattled off a 15-1 run over the final five minutes of the quarter.Â
The Mount's lead never fell below 16 points in the final quarter as the lead jumped to a game-high 22 points on a Tabasco three-pointer with 5:26 left in the quarter. After an O'Donnell three-pointer to cut the lead to 16, the Knights ended the final stanza on a 9-2 run to clinch its ninth straight win.
Pace finished with 16 points in the second half while Tabasco added 13 with the Knights shooting 40-percent in the half and made five three-pointers. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn was limited to 24-percent in the second half as O'Donnell tallied 10 points in the half.Â
Tabasco ended the night with a career-high 17 points on 6-for-14 from the field and 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the year. Pace fell just one point of her career-high with 21 points and added four steals and seven rebounds. Keenan also registered a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards while Desrats handed out a team-high four assists.Â
O'Donnell finished with a game-high 28 points on 9-for-19 from the field while adding six rebounds and four steals. Desarae Sequiera added nine points, six rebounds and a team-high four assists while Emma Kiley grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds.
The Mount concluded the evening shooting 35.2-percent from the field and was 11-for-29 from three-point territory. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn was held to 30.9-percent and was just 3-for-18 from three-point range. The Knights held the edge in points off turnovers at 23-10 as well as second chance points at 19-6. Mount Saint Mary also grabbed 16 offensive rebounds and assisted on 17 of the 25 made field goals on the evening.
Tuesday's victory moves the Knights to 15-3 and 13-0 in Skyline Conference action. The Mount concludes its two game home stand on Thursday evening when it welcomes the College of Mount Saint Vincent to Newburgh. Tip-off with the Dolphins at the Kaplan Center is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
