Pace and Rafaniello's Career Highs Coast Knights To Seventh Straight Win

Farmingdale, N.Y. – Senior Lyndsay Pace (Cranford, N.J.) and junior Gabriella Rafaniello (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each netted career highs as the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team won its seventh straight against Farmingdale State 85-56 on the road on Tuesday evening.
 
Farmingdale State took an early 14-8 lead at the 4:52 mark of the first quarter on an Imani Butts three-point jumper. The Knights scored the next six points and drew the game to a 14-14 tie on a Pace lay-in with 3:33 to go in the quarter. The Rams closed the quarter with a 19-15 lead after buckets from Nia Miller and Anna Zaborowska.
 
Mount Saint Mary responded by holding Farmingdale State to just three points in the second quarter, outscoring the Rams 23-3. The Rams were held scoreless until a Zaborowska layup with 1:56 left in the quarter as the Knights lead grew to as many as 17 after a Morina Bojka (Prospect, Conn.) bucket.
 
Pace finished with 17 points in the first half, just two points short of her career high. She was 5-for-7 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line. Bojka added 10 points and five boards in the first half.
 
Zaborowska led the way for Farmingdale State in the first half with six points while Butts added five points and Alexis Hunter grabbed nine rebounds. The Mount shot 36.1-percent from the field and knocked down three triples. The Rams shot 34.6-percent and made two threes but were outgained by eight at the free throw line at the half.
 
Farmingdale State cut the lead down to 16 points twice in the third quarter, including at the 8:30 mark and the 5:40 mark of the quarter. However, the Knights pushed its lead to 24 points with just under three minutes left on a Toriana Tabasco (Hillsdale, N.J.) free throw.
 
The Mount's lead never fell below 21 points in the final stanza as the lead grew to 27 points on a Taylor O'Brien (Bellmore, N.Y.) three-pointer. The Knights largest lead came on the last bucket of the game when Kaitlyn Wolff (Holtsville, N.Y.) drove to the rim and finished a layup for a 29-point victory.
 
The Knights shot a blistering 56-percent from the field in the second half and were 4-for-7 from three-point range. The Rams finished at an even 50-percent shooting and were 6-for-10 from three in the half. Rafaniello tallied 14 points in the second half while Bojka tallied 11 points and five assists. Zaborowska scored 12 points for the Rams while Alexis Antonacci added eight.
 
Pace finished with a career-high 22 points on 5-for-7 shooting and 11-for-12 from the free throw stripe while adding three assists, four steals and five rebounds. Bojka continued her strong junior campaign with 21 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and five steals. Rafaniello finished her career night with 17 points, six rebounds and three steals.
 
Zaborowska finished with 18 points for the Rams while Alexis Hunter added seven points, three blocks, and 11 rebounds for Farmingdale State. Butts and Antonacci each registered double-digit points in the defeat.
 
Mount Saint Mary shot 43.5-percent in the contest and knocked down seven three-pointers. The Rams finished at 42.3-percent and made eight threes. The Knights outscored Farmingdale State by 20 at the free throw line.
 
The Knights outscored the Rams 40-24 in points in the paint while converting 21 points off 27 Farmingdale State turnovers. The Mount also outscored the Rams in second chance points by seven and grabbed 15 offensive rebounds.
 
Tuesday's victory improves the Mount's record to 13-3 overall and 11-0 in Skyline Conference play. Next up for the Knights is the second road game of the week against Old Westbury on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off with the Panthers is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
