New York, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team picked up its fifth straight win on Tuesday with a 25-5, 25-11, 25-6 road triumph at Yeshiva. Senior
Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) led the offensive attack for the Knights with six kills.
Mount Saint Mary controlled the match from the start, hitting a blistering .692 in the opening stanza. The Knights went on to hit .364 in the middle frame and an even .400 in the third stanza to post a season-high .460 attack percentage for the match.
The Knights committed just four attack errors on the night and held Yeshiva to just eight and a -.163 attack percentage.
Burke put away six kills for the Mount and hit an even .500, adding a service ace and a pair of blocks. Freshman
Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) rounded out the win with five winners and four digs, while
Shannon Grogan (Levittown, N.Y.) put away five kills and led the team with five service aces.
Emily Mazzurco (Middletown, N.Y.) totaled a team-high 11 assists and was one of three different players with four aces.
Ashley Hunt (Cheshire, Conn.) added four aces, with
Alyssa Barbara (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) posting four aces and four digs.
Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) finished off the victory with eight assists for the Knights.
Yeshiva was led by five kills from Tehilla Teigman who added four digs. Brooke Ratner haded out four assists for the Maccabees with a trio of players finished with four digs.
Mount Saint Mary closed the night with a 27-8 advantage in kills and dominated the service and blocking game with a 24-1 advantage in aces and a 5-0 edge in total team blocks.
Tuesday's win improves Mount Saint Mary to 12-16 overall on the season and evens its Skyline Conference record at 5-5. The Knights round out the regular season on Thursday when they play host to Old Westbury. First serve with the Panthers is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
