Knights Sneak Past Bard On Own Goal

Myrtja makes five saves in win

Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team picked up its second win of the season on Wednesday with a 1-0 road win at Bard. The Knights tallied on a Raptors' own goal, while keeper Jakup Myrtja (Ulcinj, Montenegro) picked up his second shutout of the season with five saves.

The game was scoreless until the 70th minute when the only goal of the game came off the foot of a Bard defender. After Matt Flanagan (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) made a run down the wing and crossed the ball into the box, Bard's Sid Subramani tried to deflect the ball out of bounds and put it into his own goal for the lone tally of the game.

Mount Saint Mary finished with seven of the 10 shots in the second half and rounded out the game with a 12-7 advantage in the category, including a 7-5 edge in shots on goal. The Knights dominated corner kicks, 7-2 in the contest. Connor Doyle (New Windsor, N.Y.) led the Knights with four shots with Joseph Mesoraca (Oceanside, N.Y.) and Bereket Watts (Addis Abuba, Etheopia) each finishing with two attempts.
