Ithaca, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team returned to action on Wednesday, suffering a 3-0 road loss at unbeaten Ithaca. Sophomore
Cassidy Rykowski (Sloatsburg, N.Y.) finished the day with four saves in goal for the Knights.
Ithaca struck twice before halftime on Wednesday, getting the eventual game winning goal in the ninth minute and adding its second goal in the 27
th minute. Ally Christman opened the scoring for the Bombers off an assist from Sarah Pirine at 8:40 and then assisted on Alex Epifani's second goal of the season at the 26:11 mark of the tilt.
The Bombers took the two goal advantage into the intermission after holding a 5-1 advantage in shots over the opening 45 minutes and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Ithaca potted its third goal of the game in the 76
th minute when Stella Campodonico found the back of the net at 75:10, finishing off a feed from Gabriella Mihale to close out the scoring in the game.
Rykowski made her fourth start of the season on Wednesday, posting her second highest save total of the year. Sara Jakobsze picked up the shutout victory for the Bombers with a pair of saves in the game.
Ithaca finished the day with a 14-2 advantage in shots, including a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. Corner kicks in the tilt also went the way of Ithaca, 6-2.
Julie Roethel (Monroe, N.Y.) and
Theresa Stinson (Troy, N.Y.) recorded the only shots of the day for the Knights.
At 3-4-1 overall on the season, Mount Saint Mary returns home for a Saturday non-conference matchup with New York University. Kick-off with the Violets is set for 2:00 p.m.
