Knights Drop Decisions To Plymouth State And Sage; Kralik Named To All-Tournament Team

Sophomore averaged 2.30 kills per set over three matches

Plattsburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team closed out play at the Best Western Plus-Ground Round Classic hosted by Plattsburgh with a pair of non-conference losses on Saturday. The Knights dropped a 12-25, 18-25, 11-25 decision to Plymouth State before falling to Sage in four sets by scores of 20-25, 25-19, 21-25, 14-25. Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) put away 13 kills against Sage, while Danielle Kralik (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 2.30 kills per set over three matches.
 
Plymouth State 3 – Mount Saint Mary 0
The Knights were limited to just 18 kills in the opener against the Panthers on Saturday, hitting just .011 as a team. Plymouth State put away 35 kills and hit .308 as a unit, posting at least 10 kills in each of the three sets and committing only 11 attack errors in the match.
 
Eight different Knights recorded at least one kill in the contest, with Kralik leading the way with six winners to go along with a pair of digs. Burke finished off the loss with four winners, a block and a dig for the Mount.
 
Nicole Spinelli (Wantagh, N.Y.) led the Knights with a pair of service aces and three total blocks with sophomore Klaire Wall (Point Pleasant, N.J.) leading the team with 15 digs and adding a pair of assists. Kim Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) handed out 14 helpers for the Mount, adding a block and five digs.
 
Plymouth State was led by Ari Linden who posted 11 kills and hit .733, adding five total blocks. Hannah Chartier lifted a match-high 16 digs with Alisha Flanagan and Alexis Bowers each adding 10 digs. Kennedy Mang led all players with 17 assists and added six digs for the Panthers.
 
Sage 3 – Mount Saint Mary 1
The Knights closed the tournament with 42 kills against Sage, including 14 in the second set while hitting an efficient .438. Sage hit .302 as a team in the contest, putting away 15 winners in the third frame to move in front 2-1 in the contest.
 
Burke had a big match for the Knights, putting away a season-high 13 kills and hitting a blistering .632 for the Mount. She closed the day with another block, putting her season total at three. Kralik joined Burke with double-figures in kills with 10 and finished off a strong weekend with three service aces and nine digs.
 
Spinelli and Emily Mazzurco (Middletown, N.Y.) each finished with six winners, while Renee Hydo (Bethpage, N.Y.) put away five kills and lifted 12 digs. Gries handed out 33 assists for the Knights and lifted eight digs, while Wall chipped in with 11 digs for the Mount.
 
Sage was paced by nine kills from Miranda Nethaway who added four total blocks. Brooke Monty handed out 17 assists for the Gators with Lidia LoPorto leading the team with 13 digs.
 
For the match, Sage finished with a slim 43-42 edge in kills, but controlled the net with a 10-3 advantage in total team blocks and the service game with a 16-9 edge in aces.
 
At 0-3 overall, Mount Saint Mary returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to FDU-Florham. First serve with the Devils is set for 6:00 p.m.
